No Skippers for me on Privateering.   :D  For me, it's beautiful -- I just wish he would have added the bonus songs, especially Follow the Ribbon...

Same for me.  I listen from beginning to end, including the bonus songs.    :)

I would had splitted the record into the bluesy songs, and the rest, and it would had been perfect for me. Maybe the mix of songs is the problem.

The bonus songs are good to me too.

...and wouldn't it be good if they were all released at once for a change!

I think this is more and more unlikely, specially with the economical crisis in some of the European countries, more and more promoters wait to check how other countries sales are going, how many dates are being announced and some other promoters simply do their best to find financement, sometimes they do it sooner, sometimes later, sometimes some shows had to be cancelled or moved to other places...

The last Spanish tours had some dates that were moved from one city to another, and even in danger of being cancelled, but luckily the number of dates never changed thanks to a new promoter, that its doing his work really good.

I have to add that I think Privateering is excellent and with this album Mark is really showing us what a songwriter he is as well as being a very special guitarist too. No skippers whatsoever on the album as all 20 + the additional tracks have all got their place. I actually thought Mark said he had around 80 songs on file so there is bound to be some beauties there!!

Please no, not an acoustic album -Admittedly Hank Marvin did an excellent Acoustic album (The Guitar Player) but it's certainly not my favourite.....

Must be some movement on Guy's page soon.....

Alas, I think you are right but wouldn't it be good - especially for those planning lots of concerts.

Oh yes, it would be not good, perfect!

Last tour I wanted to attend the first show, but the first show was announced very after many batch of italian, british, german and other european dates were announced, so it was very difficul to know which one was the first date until all the dates were announced, and made the statment that that was all (that it wasnt, as another dutch and spanish date were announced later)

The day I read this thread, I dreamt about the new album. In my dream, I listened to a song, and it was superb, a midtempo guitar-driven rock, like, let me see, "When it comes to you", not too country, though.

And I remembered, when I woke up, that I had a similar dream when I listened to "Calling Elvis" in advance of the album release, back in 1991. I even dreamt about the booklet artwork, which indeed was very similar to the final look. The font I dreamt about was courier new.

Nice to have the same feeling again, almost 23 years after.

true, the more songs, the merrier, i'd rather skip ten songs then having to miss out on a blind willie mctell like song that never made it to the record, coz the artist thinks differently from the way we think
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

And if no entries create such a ramble here, I can only imagine what would happen if he starts writing! Come on boys and girls. Behave, and go down to your local pub for a pint or two. Ask the DJ to play Kill to get Crimson album. It will sound new...
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
