I'd love to own one of these.

Here's one available, seems to be in pretty much perfect condition:

Hello to everyone here,

I bought mine in 2003 and it is SE00027 (Dakota Red). – Germany

Looking at all these pictures I was just wondering when Fender did change the brown case for a black one and when they included the brown "Mark Knopfler Signature" hang tag.

Don't get me wrong, I was in the market for one. But when I saw one in person in our local store years ago I just didn't like the color. So I passed. Had it been candy apple red..... Oh and the neck radius was only 7.5" or something like that and I was not sure I'd like that. Maybe if I saw one of the earliest examples that were of a darker red tone then perhaps there would now be one in my possession. But I'm not after anything "signature" unless I also like it for other things besides the signature.

If you butcher it like these guys have then in my view the only thing worth anything is the neck. Everything else is just like any other non-signature part out there.

Hi everyone

I've just treated myself to an MK signature SE11305 - Hot Rod Red.

I've been told the paint finish is ultra soft and that I need to be careful as it can easily get damaged. Is this correct?

Thanks all!

Well it’s a nitro finish so it’s definitely more delicate than hard poly coats. Mine is already heavily cracked and it’s got some bubbling as well as many dings and scratches. But it’s meant to played and I don’t mind if life shows through it.

Yes, it scratches so easily... Which brings the question — how Mark keep his signatures in such a great shape after all these years? Polycoat?

By the way, another MK signature neck for sale. The main part of the guitar right there, take it before it get sold!
