Makes me wonder again why Fender discontinued the Signature. Could they not find an agreement as Mark wanted more royalties, or rather the opposite, Mark wanted it to be cheaper than Fender could produce it with these specs? (Wasn't it the cheapest nitro guitar in their product range??!!)

This guitar for about 3,500 € with very similar specs points to the second option.  :think

I can't get it either. I understand that Gibson Chet Atkins Signature was discontinued in 2001 after the death of Chet Atkins, but who died in case of MK's Signature Strat? One crazy assumption may be that Gibson wanted to take some money from Mark, too, and say to guys from Fender — okay, it's our turn, give the "Signature Rights" to us now.

Because, to be honest, after this expensive Gibson beast I think the final price of the guitar was the least one of Mark's worries.

A great video of Todd Krause discussing on of Fender's tribute guitars. Makes you understand why Mark decided to work with him. Great man!

Greetings from Austria!

I have bought 2 Mark Knopfler Signature Strats:

SE00434 (Hot Rod red, Info from Fender: produced July 2003) and
SE00080 (Dakota red one, well played with signs of playing bought from MaxGuitar in Netherlands - about the date of production I will write to Fender)

I also have two Custom Shop hot rod red 62 Strats (2015 and 2016), with the same Specs, only the fretboardradius is 9,5' instead the 7,25 of the MK-Strats and of course no MK-Sign on headstock ;-) )

Can I please get the articels from the magazines too?

Thank you and nice greetings

As I can tell you have bought this one: https://www.maxguitarstore.com/products/fender-mark-knopfler-stratocaster-dakota-red/
CONGRATULATIONS! One of the nicest MK-strats I ever seen and also in a great worn condition in contrast with "never played" ones.

The guitar is meant to be played and to be worn out like this.

Thank you, Quizzaciously! Yes, I love the worn and played guitars! And so the guitar get's individuality and history.....
The other one is in near mint condition..... but I think, I will play the worn Strat even more times. ;-)

Hello !

I used to be a MK Strat owner, but unfortunately had to sell it.
I now need to find another one, but it's either missing or too expensive...

Help ! ;D
