About Walk of life, I agree it's not the best song written and composed by Mark, but I like it, as it's the song that made me liked his music
and I think (no offence intended, noone referred in particular
) that sometimes the "I don't like WOL" thing is a bit of snobbism.
Often, songs that are big hits became the "worst" songs if you read die hard fans, and almost for all artists.
you know, fans prefer to say that they like the less known songs, it's more "cool"
Of course, while WOL has been my fav one for about 3 months back in summer 88, it has changed and I like much more songs like TR, RATR, Tunnel, It never rains, In the gallery, SHS, WDYWYG, OUATITW, WWE, WII, STP, etc...
BUT I must admit that I like very much walk of life, So far away, Money for nothing,etc... in the same way I like very much songs like Money, another brick in the wall, stairway to heaven, hey joe, sweet home alabama, europa, you really got me, my generation, smoke on the water, walk on the wilde side, proud mary, jumping jack flash, let it be, and the list can go on and on...
it's a little bit like some movies you know. At first they are the best movies ever made, but since many people go see it, it becames some standard blockbusters...
Why a song should become worse because it's aired every time on radio ?
Does the success change a work of art ?
(thinking in general of course, I don't mean that WOL is a piece of art
)
