If I remember what I read about it the duet in Boston was not perfect.
But can't be worst than to have WT on it...

I think you may be getting mixed up with the version from LA with Bonnie Raitt.  The one from Boston was great and one of the very best ever with a great outro solo from MK too.

In Boston 2001 Mark Knopfler and James Taylor sung two songs together, STP and Raised Up Family, from what was the next Taylor's record, which was supposed to have two or three songs with MK on guitar, but in the end that record didn't have MK playing on it, just STP added as bonus track.

I may be wrong but I read that JT had a sort blank / messed his singing part.

The duet is great! great singing by James Taylor and good solo from Mark.
Only mistake JT made was he started the chorus after his second verse, Mark corrected him ;)
Here are the 2 songs:

Raised Up Family is also a cool song!

His voice is fine for blues songs ie with The Blues Club Band, but not for songs like STP - his voice is too powerful for that.

Ah, who's getting confused now!  Jackson Browne sure got confused too, with the lyrics if I remember. :think

Raised up family was cool, worked out by the band on the day. Odds on MK doing something like that now?

At that time it was said that Mk played (or was about to) in some songs for a new Taylor cd. When I heard this colaboration I thought that might be one of the Taylor songs Mk recorded with him. It was never said what happened with that colaboration because Taylor released the record without Mk contribution on it.
