Hi!

Just wanted to tell that my guitar arrived yesterday. Everything was in excellent shape, and it was really a joy to open that case and see that beautiful guitar for the first time :) It really is a masterpiece of an instrument. I am very happy that I finally got it, and although hanging it around my neck didn't make me sound like Mark right away, I am sure it is a step in the right direction :) The guitar is serial number SE11598, so I suppose it is built recently? Anyone understand Fender's dating system?

-Jarle

Jarle.

I'm real glad you have received it looks real nice i'm jealous, :'( now lets see if we can find one for me.

Brian

Thanks! It is really brand new with a nice built and soild case. Now it's your turn :) Have you considered contacting Willcut Guitars? The guitar is still listet at 1599$ on there webpage.

Maybe you could send them a mail and ask if they have more in stock, and if not, maybe they could get hold on one for you? Really nice people there. They will answer fast...

Jarle, my opinion is as long as you play a fender through a fender amp it will be fine!! I have an old Fender Champion and a brand new Fender Mustang at the mo and it sounds beautiful through them both...

Twin Reverb is a dream machine indeed, but I agree with Knopflerfan, Fender Champ is very good too and it's relatively affordable.

Warning, on the early ones at least the paint is liable to chip around the neck pocket when you take off the neck.   :(

Oh yes well done Dusty - you can see the paint chipped on SE00616 on my flickr page where the serial number plate is....

Regards Amps - I can't agree that any "fender" amp will be fine. Fender mass produce almost everything now, and that was always Leo's philosophy too!
There are lots of valve amps that do the biz, depending on your needs, at affordable prices.

I own a Fender Princeton Reverb reissue which I gig with ALL the time, and I love it. Other folks don't like them.
I also have a HotRod Deville, which I used for years. It's a different beast and is kind of a budget version of the legendary Fender Twin - I love it also, but it's a monster to carry and gig with'!!

There are certainly some VERY good solid state amps these days, and if you're just mucking around at home, then yes, follow your ears... :) those Vox emulators are quite versatile buy awkward to fiddle with. I've got an Ad50vt too!! I never use it :) but the kids can haha!

I love gear talk, so many different opinions, but once your on stage and turned up loud, you play with what you've got!!
Recording, well that's a whole other debate. :)

Cool, I havent long bought the Fender Mustang II and although its a solid amp it sounds like a valve.... The pre-programmed effects are excellent and it is capable of plugging straight into my laptop to record....it is only 40watts but boy does she kick. I have gigged with her too very happily....

I play through a 1964 Fender Concert. I didn't realise at the time I got it,  but MK has one too.

I got a reply today, good news and bad news.

Brandon at Willcutt told me he has another MK Strat, case never opened until today.
When he opened it he found it had 5 little holes in it 1 on the front and 4 on the rear. (he says they look like they where drilled)
He said he had never seen anything like it. He sent me some low quality pics take a look and give me your opinions
Should I take it or keep looking?
It has all the tags, serial #SE11637 He has adjusted the price for the damage $1300.00 + shipping

Oh thats a shame about the holes. If its any consolation my first one i bought has 4 'dinks' on it where it had been played and knocked. I considered that it actually added character to the instrument but the drill holes I wouldnt be so sure of?? I will take a better look at your photos in the morning on the computer screen...

That's very odd! Dings I can handle, unknown strange drilled holes??? As mysterious as the Giza pyramids!
I would not buy without some sort of valid explanation, even then you will always notice those holes and know its not 'perfect' :(
Interested to know any other explanations, you could always ask on the Strat Talk forum, there are some super nerdy nerds there, and you'll hear all sorts of opinions for an interesting story like this.

Very weird. You could fill the holes and touch up quite easily.  It depends on whether or not you are the kind of person who will always be bothered by it and whether or not you care about the discount.

Otherwise just wait,  they aren't particularly rare and another will come up soon enough.
