That is because his solo material is largely ignored by radio and the media these days and we are force-fed what they want us to hear, so the general public have little exposure to his music - except for DS songs!

Regarding Communique.  It is probably my favourite DS album, but there are many more MK solo songs that I enjoy just as much, or even more than the songs on Communique, but then I am more of a solo MK fan these days.   

Whole heartedly agree with all of that.

And then we have MK, a category on his own.  I think (and can speak for the others here) that our age is very important about what period of MK we like. I mean that DS is still my favourite all time band. MK is the guitar and voice that stills sooth me because I know so well, after spending my youth listening to DS. And yes, the surprise is not there anymore. But maybe it is a good thing. And maybe it is the 38 year old me that is talking. I don't know what the 13 year old me would have said if he'd listened back then what MK releases now.

As a matter of fact I wrote" I can't speak for the others here" but for some reason AMIT revealed only the can part!

I think that the age is very important factor. I don't expect any youngsters to like MK's solo stuff as much as DS ones. We were the generation that heard DS while in existence and that must have gone through more as an experience, than just a pass time music of the times trend. They were hip back then and getting the exposure that affected all audiences, young and old, serious and more light. And the special weight of this exposure left an imprint in our generation. But, despite this impact, DS are considered by many to be a part of the baby-boomers, light weight/heavy sales (see Genesis/Phil Collins?sting-sorry Dusty) , that have affected music in a negative way, UNLIKE other bands such as Led AZeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc, that have a word of mouth huge following and at younger generations.  (Maybe I am wrong, but this is the feeling I have) 

And to push things a bit more, some months ago , we were going to my village/mothers hometown for a memorial service. I thought that it would be appropriate to put some MK in the car stereo for the 90 minute drive. We listened to Privateering and part of Get Lucky. My father (74) told me this:" Is this the one you have been listening all these years? He is not bad, but I wish he had some more up beat songs. It gets a bit boring after a while". Now this I never expected from my father, since he rarely listens to foreign music. 

And dmg I was born in March 1976, so it is a matter of counting, to say 37 or 38.

And Adele is not the only new thing out there. Many fantastic new musicians and music. (Voxtrot, Belle and Sebastian, Darren Hayman, Arcade fire, etc)

And anyway, to me anything I listen for the first time is new no matter when it was first released.
The Bob Dylan bootleg series n.10 was new music to me, and fine I might add, but first recorded 43 years ago!

Adele was just an example, as you know, but maybe the reason younger people listen more to DS than MK solo is that they are not just not exposed to that music, maybe don't even know that MK has gone solo!   It is not played on radio and MK doesn't appear on tv music shows!    Maybe if they were given the chance, they might just like it too!   Stranger things have happened!

Well, probably not Bieber, but even though I'm not still young, I think I can say I'm still young at heart and follow the music scene!
