Yes, isn't it great. After one day for this news to sink in, I realized how blessed we are to have him this profilic at the moment.. After the last few years of constant touring, two Bob tours, double album, nobody could have wondered if he would do a break for a year or so. Instead of that, right after the holidays from touring, he gets back into the studio to work on. Really phantastic. The whole cycle will start again, Guy will probably put up another diary etc... Happy!

LE

Well, he has said he was "tripping over songs" so let us hope they are winners and he steers clear of the type of bluesy numbers he was attempting on Privateering.  A loss for me.

Well, your loss - others' gain ;)

I think it's about time Mark gets into making more bluesy songs. :thumbsup  :clap  Something along the line of Bluebird.  ( loveeeeee that song !)

Actually I love Bluebird too, but apart from that things like Don't forget Your Hat, Got to Have Something and Today Is Okay are just rubbish IMHO.  Almost embarrassing that MK wrote such tripe and released it.  He's much better than that. :disbelief

Yep, "Don't forget your hat" and "Today is okay", along with "Hot or what" and "Gator blood", are absolutely skippers for me. "Got to have something" it's a very energetic song, imho.

I love "Today is OK"!   It's one of my favourites from the album.  The harmonica is amazing!     "Gator Blood" is fantastic live.  Much better than on the album!    :)

Yes, I know - I'm a hopeless case, and when I have the album on shuffle, I'm always so pleased when it pops up!   ;D

It is indeed. I love the lyrics, the drumming... it is one of the better songs of the album. Songs I could live without on Privateering: Hot Or What, Blood and Water, After The Beanstalk. The blues songs are great, Don't Forget Your Hat is really sounding great played loud. And: I prefer Gotta Have Something every day over the boring Radio City Serenade and the album version of Kingdom of Gold. That one came to live when MK played it live, not before.

I have to agree with you Val, as 'Today is ok' is rather groovy IMHO and I just love the deep bluesy riff on it!!
'Gator Blood' - well both versions are cool but 'Live' - oh wow!!!

Now - 'Don't forget your hat' & 'After the Beanstalk' now they are tripe.......

This thread gave me a wake up call  :D . I havn`t written here since some months and I have read only now and then. But this are really good news  :D .  Those of us who know me longer know: I love Bluebird and would love to hear new music in this style. Maybe again a double-album, one cd with slower songs, one with faster songs, so you can choose according to the mood you are in....

I have to agree with dmg and others again that I found songs like " don't forget your hat" " hot or what" "after the beanstalk" "today is Ok" are quite downright embarrassing to hear from our great hero.  Got to have something is not bad though. Quite groovy.  Like Mona Dee.  "Bluebird" is my most favorite song in the album follows by "Go Love"   Bluebird  is the best bluesy song from Mark ever IMO.

SS - I agree with you that 'DFYH' & also 'ATB' are embarrassing but really and truly so is 'Go Love' ??

'Today is okay' - wow great Blues Riff yet again....
