I'd recommend a slightly different approach to the question of profitability. If we consider MK as a company with different profit centers, I'd guess that there is
- the studio, that needed a lot of initial investment
- the heritage, by this I do mean the rights and income out of the DS and MK back catalogue
- the prospect of upcoming albums
- touring
In the end though, some of the best consultants are paid to deal with his businesses. He even said recently, that the studio is doing well, according to his accountants.
All this aside, I'm happy that he still sells enough tickets to fill even the big venues. More than that, it's good news that he's always writing, loves recording as well as touring and found his way into a healthy lifestyle.
