Astonishes me every time I read it that even UK newspaper need to call him "former-dire-straits-this-and-that" and that "after the disband of dire straits in 1993 bla bla.."  Should just MARK KNOPFLER not be enough?

It should be, but unfortunately due to Mark's desire to be low-key he is totally unknown except to his loyal fans!  Say to most people MK and they don't know him until you mention DS.

Well Ingrid has just text me to say the recording equipment didn't arrive in time so I shall have a go at recording the event through my phone - better than nothing I guess...

Yes interesting isn't it that after all these years some people only know MK by Dire Straits music. 
Some are even shocked when I mention he has 7 solo albums available....

Nowadays, even when I mention "Dire Straits" I get many unaware faces, mostly - of course - from youngsters. After all, it's been quite a while since the last efforts from the band.
