Straits Newsletter
« on: July 16, 2013, 07:52:45 AM »
Seems the Straits are going to tour again - I couldn't care less about it... but what pisses me off is that I receive a newsletter from them? Can't remember ever clicking any Alan Clark/Straits/Crap/Site to get it... how can I get rid of it?

It's mail@straitsband.com

I wrote back to that address but I knew before that this wouldn't help. Any help appreciated. Is Terry Kilburn involved in this using the MKNews data?
I don't want to receive any fucking info from these dickheads.

Same here, I got emails on a couple of e-mailadresses. I was at a concert once in Tilburg, both booked it at the local venue. So how the hell do they know my mailadresses?  :disbelief

Isn't there a law that states any circular mail should have an "unsubscribe" link contained within it?

I haven't received any e-mail, but then I don't think I've even been on their web site!

I got the email from the Straits yesterday.  I have no idea how my email ended up on the list.  I don't mind it at all.  In fact it prompted me to check out their website. :) Like I said, I will see them if they tour the US near where I am.

The website is a joke. They say they considered using "ex Dire Straits bass players" but decided to go for the best musicians instead. What a bunch of complete cocks.

From my opinion, to use for promotion purposes e-mail adresses from MARK KNOPFLER fans that presumably have put their e-mail on any OFFICIAL MARK KNOPFLER website, and then, at the same time, fully neglect MARK KNOPFLER on their website as founder and writer of all songs they perform. This is not only disgraceful, it is just criminal, nothing else...

I am sure they didn't get the e-mail-addresses from an official mark knopfler website.

Are they looking on AMIT?  My e-mail isn't visible and I haven't received any from them.  They know we are all fans of the songs so... :think

Perhaps you could mark the message as junkmail, this will put their address on the blacklists.

Or perhaps you could sue them for all their worth! ;)

I am sure they didn't get the e-mail-addresses from an official mark knopfler website.

Not sure how you can be sure of this. Seems they could have been provided by "somebody" at MK news... Clear breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 if that is indeed the case.
