I really can not see the point of going true all this stuff that comes around with a tour and than go to the states for only 4 concerts.......
Anyone know something about venues he is playing. I believe some are small (LA) and a lot bigger one in Long Beach??
Its clearly built up as a promo-thing. I remember the promoshows from previous years to be smaller in terms of venue and production

It is entirely possible that the label is picking up a portion of the tab for this.... I truly don't feel that Mark has been in the touring business to make money in a very long time. You simply can't tour in the luxury that he does and make money with the size of venues that he plays.  It just doesn't add up. I think this was an afterthought of a tour given the new contract.......... I for one consider every show a favor to us fans and although I am extremely disappointed it isn't closer to home, I don't feel that MK owes me anything so I have nothing negative to say about it!

I see this as a "gift".  :D   (Thanks, MK!!!)

The Privateering tour this summer was not planned to include a North America leg, and by the time the distribution deal was signed, a lengthier tour was probably not even an option.  ...Mark and the band members have a busy schedule.

And while the mini-tour may no make sense financially, perhaps Universal is footing the bill, making it economically viable for MK.  So, if you look at this in terms of MK giving this nice gift to his fans, then hopefully the short run of shows in close proximity might be overlooked.   :wave

It's not a question of affording it- it's the strange looks you get from your friends when you tell them you traveled 3k+ miles to see a concert.  :)

Don't worry about what people think, you get used to those strange looks

right on, Ingrid.  Who cares anyway.  You follow wherever your happiness takes you.  I'm doing Vegas, LA and Oakland.  I bet more dates will be announced.

And thank you Mark for a Birthday gift to us here in the US.

I tried twice to post a comment and twice it failed to show here. I don't know why. Put simply, I questioned whether 4 shows could really be said to constitute a tour at all. And, in response to someone's earlier comment, I said I had once flown the Atlantic at very short notice to attend four one-hour shows over two nights in a small New York venue with no tickets and no certainty of tickets. I got to all four and have never regretted it.

 Now a different point.

Is it posible that one or more of those shows will be filmed for a TV broadcast or that MK and band will also do something for a U.S. televison show? I ask because of the topic title.

Lucky Americans getting a few weeks tour as well! Congrats. Also the tv appearances will be interesting. Lots to look forward to over the pond! Enjoy!

The title comes from the very first post. No idea if it really would happen.

Oh well..sucks for all of us on the East Coast. Maybe Mark will throw us a wave out the window of the Legacy as he flies overhead :wave. Don't know about anyone else..but I can't afford to fly 3,000 miles for one show.

The pre-sale is 2 hours away so I've been calculating the cost of going.  Roughly, with airfare, hotel, tickets, it would cost about $1000 to go.  I'm going to pass.  My house needs a new roof.   :wave
It's hard sometimes but pretty much it's alright

When it's all said and done, my damage will be roughly $1,000 for 3 shows.  Heck, if that's what I can buy my happiness with, I'm happy to do so.  :) We only live ONCE.  :)

I'm so excited about the presale in 1 hour.  I could hardly sleep last night. (it's crazy!)

Hi All,

This was a BAD experience!!!  Desperately seeking 1 or 2 tickets (AAA - F) for the Wiltern (Los Angeles - October 26).  Does anyone have 1 or tickets that they can sell to me?

Please PM me!!!  :D  :D  :D

Also, Sweetsurrender is looking for 2 tickets to Oakland -- she says to PM her.
