Heads-up! MK hour on Swedish radio
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:04:58 AM »
This Friday, 21st of June (Midsummer's eve) there's a nearly one hour long radio broadcast on SR P4 called "Mark Knopfler; med egna ord" (MK; in his own words).

It starts at 23.07 and ends at 24.00.

The show is hosted by Kalle Oldby an MK aficionado, otherwise known as a close friend of Richard Bennett's.

"Music and musings mixed by Kalle Oldby. Since the mid-90s, Mark Knopfler's got an ongoing and successful solo career. Mark writes any songs about ordinary people but Sonny Liston and Elvis Presley has also inspired him.

Marks muffled mumbles comes from encounters with him over the last 14 years. "Guitar solos should never come in the way of the lyrics" and "I write anything about the past to understand the present" are some of Mark Knopfler's reflections that you may hear along with music from the last 15 years."

Thanks. Just listened to it online. Played quite a few songs (only Mark, no DS of course) and it was interesting hearing some of his thoughts, but I was pretty bummed out by the fact that first everything was said in swedish, then we heard Mark repeat it, so we got the info twice. Also, a bit too heavy on the music side -would've preferred to hear a bit more from Mark and about him. Oh, well -mustn't complain. Not often we get to hear Mark on the radio for an hour...
