Brothers in Arms - Dire Streets, live at the Wharf
« on: June 10, 2013, 12:14:29 AM »
Hello folks - just thought I'd put up this track recorded live at our gig at the Wharf Theatre, Tavistock, last month. Recorded through the desk, which is never ideal, but hope you enjoy it - Brothers in Arms (in a Mandela concert stylee)

Thanks for the desk recording! I'm so tired with this awful recordings of almost all cover bands done with the terrible iternal camera mics. I mean... they can get 10+ players on the stage, can get Soldanos, Pensas, MK-strats, etc, but they just can't record show from the desk?!

Very good indeed, I like it.

you're so right Foma !
I'm always impressed by the gear owned by tribute bands. Almost equal to professionnals. Some have even guitar techs !

jakehadlee, very good guitarplaying. I like your tone.
Indeed, it's in the Mandela style (which I love), but the band overall sound is a little bit "too much" IMHO.
I liked it though.  :)

Cheers guys - the problem with going through the desk in this case is that it is just a flat desk recording, so we've had to do a bit of jiggery pokery post-recording with eq, compression etc to try to balance things out which has sacrificed things like the clarity of the snare, the balance of instruments etc (probably why the sound overall is a bit "too much", like you say - its a lot subtler live).

We're having a proper desk mix and video done later this year and will post something up from that.
