Nigel was there tonight, Richard Bennett just wrote in his diary:

Tonight's gig was at the SECC to a sold-out capacity audience of 4,414.  Our friend and brilliant sax player Nigel Hitchcock joined us this evening for the first in a series of U.K. dates.  Nigel's a legendary sax man throughout the U.K., played on loads of records, shows and a book of transcriptions of his most famous recorded solos has been published.  It's great to have him on board and he played brilliantly which is little surprise.  A good, relaxed gig tonight... maybe due to the late night celebrating John's 40th.  Certainly not error free on my part, but really enjoyable and judging from the audience's reaction, it went down a storm with them as well.

Cool, I think a Sax fits better to the original meaning of I Used To Could than just Jim's piano... great view to hear it in London!

The good thing about no sultans ils that it makes it harder for us to complain about no sax break in Sultans :D

I think that Nigel's sax could fit on Radio City Serenade in replacement of the trumpet.

So no new song added to celebrate Niguel guesting.

Could have made it on TR filling the "karaoke" part.

Just back and was going to tell you which songs Hitch played on, but I see that's already been done.  Was astonished really that no new ones were added.

Really very good KOG.

On R&J he played intro and outro only and not the CW middle solo.

IDUAD was a new arrangement in a raggae style.  Earlier in the show MK made comment about John's 40th birthday being yesterday and they had a late night.  He made a mistake in the first solo, then after the song said "I'm glad he doesn't have a birthday every week!"

Speedway was massive.  Fantastic!  Best song of the night.

TR seemed error free.

Tell more tomorrow, but my bed is calling... :wave

Good that you've enjoyed! Also that you liked KOG (you called the Amsterdam KOG solo very bad if i recall correctly)  ;)

Good night! :wave

Agree! And the best choice as a final encore! More than So Far Away or Piper To The End.
