Ruth's addition actually makes the chorus less repetitive sounding and the lyrics part of this version sounds great, but unfortunately it's let down by the worst KOG solo ever sadly imo.  Sounds more like he's just playing the song out rather than soloing.

I totally disagree too!   I have just been listening to a recording we made that night and the solo in KOG was fantastic, so nothing you can say can change my mind!   Also I read your moans about Marbletown and it was magnificent - probably the best I have heard!   You weren't at the concert dmg, I was and I can tell you it was all wonderful!

Well that's the main thing Val.  Everyone there seemed to enjoy it and I'm glad for everyone who had a great day. :)

HI, my dear boys and girls on amit,
While some of us were discussing if SOS should have been played , If Rudy fits in the songs, if Mark's solo was good etc. during the ziggo dome gig.
There was a girl in the audience to see a Mark Knopfler concert , because her brother loved Dire Straits,
indeed "LOVED" because he was no longer in her life, he passed away.

Her biggest wish was to see and hear Mark playing, because her brother was a big fan.
she said: Mark Knopfler's guitar sounds will always be connected to the memory of my brother .

She filmed and posted fragments of the show on you-tube:
the text at the bottom during the beginning of her you-tube post says:
"Mark Knopfler (the hero of my beloved brother*) live @ the Ziggo dome, A night never to forget, thank you Rob x "

I posted a comment to say: "I am sorry, also on behalf of the Dire Straits fan community around the globe".

It still gives me the shivers watching it, but fellows we may disagree with each others once in awhile  (and that's ok ),
but do we agree that we should give some strength to a sister whom lost her brother, an Hugh Dire straits fan,
just like us, who can not agree or disagree or even listen to any song Mark did perform.

so please comment on her you-tube video, because we can.

so far the comments are in Dutch, but let her feel , that we "Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits fans around the world , do care about each other"

Thank you all in advance
Ar/Enlight

Lars, Thanks for the sound.  Is there a video of the song.  Personally I like the version with Emmy much much more.  Or just Mark himself.   :)  What a beautifulllllll song !!!!

Thank you Enlight!
Sad but cute story. I replied on yt.
Great compilation of the show for newbies... :)

Thank you for the videos, Lars!
I really like Ruth's voice!
Of course she's less experienced and mature than Emmy, but hey, what will she become!?
Just great! :)
The way he sings and plays guitar
            Still brings me to tears

I have both of Ruth's albums, "The Garden" and "These Wilder Things" and they are both beautiful, especially the latter.   Most of the songs she sang at Amsterdam are on "These Wilder Things".    Highly recommended!    :thumbsup
