Agreed for the most part (we have not seen anything comparable to TOL and TR in the solo career, even SAN is pretty simple compared to those), but they are exceptions: YTC is one of them, takes a long time to build with a bombastic finale (at least live), quite wonderful !

Yes, but the studio version is pretty basic and even live the solo only gets going when it suddenly stops! :o

Only Speedway has come close, but that isn't really epic, more a crescendo style song building up.

In Bremen was everybody applauding for a while after Sultans. MK had to wait before starting Gator Blood.

No, you must be wrong there because no one likes Sultans, no one misses it or would be bothered if he didn't play it.   ;)

Hi everyone!    I'm just back from Amsterdam and thoroughly enjoyed the concert!    For those of you who are moaning, yet again, about the setlist, etc, I have to say that this was one of the best concerts I have attended and I think you had to be there to appreciate how good it was.

Ruth Moody was especially good and so was her band.  She played songs from her new album "These Wilder Things" and also from "The Garden" plus "Dancing in the Dark".

WII, CBC, Privateering, Father & Son and HFB were played very well and I really enjoyed them.   Then Ruth joined Mark on stage.  IDUAD was wonderful, with a great solo from Mark.  I didn't miss the duelling guitars one bit btw and actually liked it more than the Emmylou version.    Then came "Seattle".   This is one of my favourite songs from the album and it was great, as was KOG, which had a magnificent solo and Ruth's harmonising vocals were really beautiful on all of these songs.

R & J was lovely as usual, but I think the final solo didn't go quite to plan and I noticed a little shrug of Mark's shoulder as he looked over at Richard.     I would have loved to have heard SOS, but it was such a wonderful concert that it didn't seem to matter somehow.  I'm sure it will turn up again soon anyway!

My personal highlight of a wonderful concert was "Marbletown"!    The quiet part where Glenn and John play together was truly special and this time it seemed a bit jazzy!   I loved every moment of it!     Speedway was played as powerfully as ever and TR was great too, but I think the final solo went a bit wrong in places and I feel that now I am ready for it to be retired in favour of other songs. I say that with a very heavy heart btw!

Security was very heavy handed and we had to return to our seats, but we came back after TR!

Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the show, judging from the cheers from the audience and I had a great time too!

It was also really great to meet lots of lovely people from this forum - some who I have met before, but also others I met for the first time at this concert!  Such lovely people!  :wave

Now I can't wait for Liverpool on Sunday, which should be interesting as Nigel Hitchcock will be playing!

Goin' into Tow Law....

Just like Val, I also just arrived home and all I can say at this moment is:

The concert was FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL, I LOVED and ENJOYED it! :P

What a great time we had.

Also meeting the fans at the fans meeting was great.  To those of you I wasn't able to hug and say goodbye after the concert,
I hope we will meet again in future! :wave

Yes, after the show we got lost of each other. In Zwolle we better arrange an after concert fanmeeting as well.
Since it's on a friday (almost) nobody has to work the next day, so I guess we can go for a drink after the show  :D
