When I finished highschool I had to take final exams.
They were, among others, French, English and Chemistry.
I was particularly good in Chemistry.

Nowadays I regularly switch languages and perform a smokey chemical reaction in the office.  :smack

My colleagues and boss want me to, because those were milestones in my life... ;)

Did I mention how fantastic the concert was?
What a good mood Mark and the boys were in?
Smiling, joking, experimenting... Maybe Ruth made them feel younger? ;D
It was really nice to sit between Ingridswing and Pottel, despite their Paraguayyyyyyyyyy ;) :smack

It was nice to see that Ruth was - on one hand - missing her guitar as she usually always seems to sing playing it; - on the other hand admiring Mark's playing just as we do.
The solo in the outro of KOG was really good.
But the one in IDUAD was just as good. Ruth stood so close to him and had nothing to do but stare and admire... :)
Very sweet!

I'm jealous to all who were there, great setlist.

That he/they didn't play sultans?
Its a great song, yes for sure!
But he played it for 30+ years. Same with TR, BIA, R&J and SFA, or SAN as from his solo stuff.
Its fine for me if he play these classic songs, but i'ts also fine for me if he drop one or two and moves on to play new or rarely played songs.
What really important is for me, that i have the feeling that the band and Mark are in fresh and good mood, that they enjoy for themselve the songs that they play for us.
Because that garantie a high "quality" level of music.

Why did I not go there....  :hmm     :o

Nice view to have Ruth in London, though!!!   :D :D :D

Thanks for all the posts about the show from the attendants. It's always great to have feedback  on the morning after a concert so regular!

In my opinion it was a great setlist! It was nice to see how IDUAD with Ruth in a kind of subtle reggae version is transformed. CBC / IUTC really add something to the list and do the DS songs forget!

Something else, what did you think of the sound in the Dome? It was my first experience in the Dome and found far below the sound level of a concert hall.
The HMH is really great in terms of acoustic, Ziggo Dome has really disappointed me. I wonder how the band has experienced this yourself, and what was the difference with the soundcheck. Halfway Privateering was the sound fairly mixed, but has never reached the level HMH.

As you probably know, I always think its a shame when SOS isnt played, but I wasnt at the show and I therefore guess that this was an extraordinary one due to Ruths appearance and that the dynamics of the set probably didnt suit SOS that well this time   :)

Reading all this SOS moaning I have to say I wish I could hear Mark play a gig without a single DS song - that would be an experience! Never could understand that SOS obsession.

It's not obsession, SOS is a milestone in Mark's career. It's like McCartney gig without Yesterday (and I don't like this song, to be honest  ;)).

I'm with the ones who thinks that sultans "has to" be played

BUT, on the other hand :

- I'm not sure that Yesterday is played at every Macca's gig or tour, well I don't think so
- I'm not sure that Born to run or Born in the USA is played at every Bruce's gig or tour, well I don't think so
- there were plenty of Stones' tours without Satisfaction or without paint it black or without....
- there were several EC's tours without Layla (just one night) or without cocaine (latest tours I think)
- I saw Santana in 93 : no Europa
- I saw Mr Bob in 93 (ok not really a significative example) : no like a rolling stone, no Tambourine man, no blowin in the wind, no heaven's door...
I guess there a lot more examples...

BUT on the other other hand  ;):
- I'm quite sure that la grange is played at every ZZ top's gig
- I can't imagine a Purple gig without smoke on the water
- has Phil Collins ever done a gig without playing In the air tonight ? (I don't think so, but not sure)
- if you exclude The wall tour (which was a special tour), all other floyd/ waters/gilmour tours had the classics in the set
- not sure, but I don't think that Led zep did a show without whole lotta a love or stairway (after 1971 of course)
and I guess there a lot more examples too

IMHO, I would put MK/sultans in the 2nd category, but it's just MHO  :)

As I know, Yesterday is played at every Macca's gig since Driving USA tour in 2002. And Bruce is played Born to Run at every gig with E Street Band.

DP gig without Smoke on the Water is my dream, but I understand why they still play that song. But at the last tour they drop Highway Star ;)

ah yes, since2002.......but before ?
I'm not sure if he played it during all the 80ies and 90ies. At least I guess he did'nt play it with the wings, but in this case, it's a little bit like MK with NHBs...

as for Bruce, I saw him in 93, but he wasn't with the E-street band, and I don't remember Born to run (but my memory isn't always reliable)
