Back from Berlin, MK and a much needed time off... Sorry for anyone I missed, my hotel was quite far away from the venue - arrived late, left early. And frankly, I just felt like I needed some time with MK alone... Well, his music I mean. Too many important non-MK-things happening lately... Anyway, really enjoyed the show, great sound for such a huge ugly hall. Hadn't really paid much attention to setlist, reviews, and fans hyperventilating lately, so even though I had a glimpse at the first show's setlist, I had forgotten about it by the time I arrived in Berlin. So Back to Tupelo was a nice surprise, as was Gator Blood. Anyway, I would have switched ANY of the played songs for Yon Two Crows and 5.15 am but you can't always get what you want, can you.

I think "Border Reiver" worked better as an opener than "What It Is". Glad he dropped Napoleon and STP. Seems like the setlist has become a little more flexible (but never say never until the tour ends) but I must admit I am slowly getting bored with the basic frame. Speedway, Marbletown, So Far Away, Brothers in Arms, Romeo... Yawn. Also, the way the guitar sound is more and more overpowered by those celtic noises annoys the heck out of me. And I really really want that fantastic TR solo back, right after he sings "Like a rolling river"...

Maybe I was a little too distracted by real life that Friday night but this was the first time I didn't feel the usual level of excitement. Or it's probably because I had a shitty seat, sandwiched in row effing 13 on the very right between those boring, unappreciative people. One guy in front of me started filming with his effing iPhone during What It Is and I told him off...

Three more concerts for me, and I am curious how I feel afterwards. Right now it's really strange... Browsing some setlists and reviews now.  8)

Dutchessy, just in case you are interested in a "proper" version of the zdf thing (also I think it is not very informative), the zdf has a so-called
"Mediathek" with a few days delay. So maybe it will turn up there.

I am with you on that for most of it.

IMHO BR was just the best opener since DTTW...
And WII is a really good song but maybe not performed as good as it could be.

Yes, for WII the studio version remains the best, at least for the beginning. Live it is too slow.
The interlude and the end solo are nice live though.

2001 intro was nice, not the rest of the song
2005 Guy part was nice and maybe best overall live version were performed during that tour. But I have no memories of the 2002 version and I guess it  could compete as that band was quite great.

"2001 into", do you mean the Bonnie bank lomond, or the actual start of the song ?

There is actually a contrast between the beginning and the end, the beginning is too slow, the end is as fast as 2001/2005... strange....

The album version is one of his best songs ever made. Just love it  8)
The live versions never on the same high level.........
