I remember a soundcheck recording from 2001 (?) where they played Silvertown Blues and Portobello Belle. I wish we could hear Silvertown, but i think it doesn't fit somehow... but Portobello Belle fits very well, i think.
But we won't get Silvertown or Portobello - for me it seems that this tour is almost the real first MK-solo Tour. There not that many Straits songs. I like it. Let's face it: we will never get a Straits concert again!

Old Pigweed!

I do suspect PW though, which isn't a bad thing imo.

He has the cream strat in his hands after Gator Blood, so why not play it right after that one on this dream-guitar...

LE

which song ?

if it is PW, he always played it on telecaster
if it is Sultans, he never played it on this strat

and Gator blood must be in open tuning for slide, so it doesn't fit for both songs

Oh never thought of the Telecaster, I was thinking of the guitar he used for the recording on the album, and it seems he uses that same guitar for Gator Blood. -But I am no gear head at all and don't know a thing about open tunings. So it was all wrong of course. But the guitar is nice!  :lol

Show start: 21.12

1. What it is
2. Corned beef city
3. Privateering
4. Father and Son
5. Hill Farmers Blues
6. Back to Tupelo
7. I used to could
8. Romeo & Juliet
9. Song for sonny liston (no Sultans)
10. Postcards from Paraguay

Hmm..he played sultans "funny" yesterday..no sultans today..maybe he was dissatisfied with something we tought was cool..wonder why it is suddenly ditched..then taken back..hmm..cannot see any obvious reasons

I think the policy is changing setlists, has nothing to do with  being dissatisfied or not

he used the white strat for the STP studio version (and live in 2001), but for PW (even for the studio version) he used the blonde telecaster (same used live for Belle star)

I see that, but I still dont get why a milestone like Sultans is ditched..it has always been a core foundation in MKs set..at least in my opinion

I thought he was grinning at the end of the song to the other band members.  He did seems to have problems with the volume/tone controls just before the first solo though so it could have been that. ???
