I agree with you Nico. Too much cimbals. I prefer the energy of mk this year but the drumming 2010.

I agree about the cymbals too, but I wonder if Ian's drumming has powered MK's playing, because he is certainly playing with lots more energy on this tour!   I was a bit worried too about Jim's piano on certain songs that Matt had played so beautifully before, eg R&J and TR, but I think he is doing a great job, so no worries now!

Yes Jim's Romeo & Juliet Intro from Bucharest is really dreamingly wonderful! As the whole rendition is from that classic.

I agree with MK playing with renewed energy on this tour. Perhaps the pain he felt in the back in 2010 and the fact that he had to play certain songs like Sultans or Speedway on a chair were responsible of that relative lack of energy.

I miss too Matt on some songs. If you can, listen to the Vancouver 2005 version of Telegraph Road, the band and mainly Matt was on fire that night. Never beaten since and never will be IMO.

As for the drums, there's only one thing to do now : call the same man who already saved the 2005 tour.

The setlists at the very beginning of the 2005 tour were the same as later, with the only exception of The Trawlerman's song, played only once.

You may like or dislike some band members but I am pretty certain that the choice of songs are nothing to see with the musicians. It's Mark's choice only, Guy confirmed this many times. Mark may like "playing safe" which I don't mind too much after all because the songs remain great, but at last it's good that he varies a bit on this tour.

Talking about musicians, I've just checked the version of Speedway form Milan last evening and funnily (?) compared it with the ones with Emmy back in 2006, which were MILES AHEAD the most recent ones.

Oh and, by the way, were the 2006 setlists boring ?

You may not like DC's style, as I clearly dislike Ian's drumming if you're asking me, but please don't imply that the repetitive setlists were because of Danny being in the band. With all respect, this is insane.

Thanks for the Insanity, Nico...  but the hp drumming style never fitted the calmer songs. Being an amateur drummer myself I know what it is about.
I do respect DC a lot. But he is Mr hp. Period
