My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

Yes, but Father and Son its played in its entirety, and then linked with Hill farmer blues, so two songs. In the Dark was the night case, its just an intro to Miss you blues, a small slide piece played before the main track.

I only pop in here occasionally now but, having argued for a wider range of songs in concert from Mark, I am delighted to read that he has done just that. I had hoped that he might pick up that approach from "Mr Bob" and, whether "Mr Bob" was the influence or not, Mark seems to have adjusted his approach to song choice in concert and I, for one, am delighted. Maybe Mark's people actually read our prattling here and, once in while, respond. Whatever, "Bravo!".

Regrettably, "Mr Bob", on his current tour, has gone in the opposite direction, limiting his song choice considerably, with minimal variation from show to show. Maybe, he picked that approach up from MK. Who knows?

Whatever my personal feelings on the matter, however, I still defend the performer's right to deliver just what he or she damn well wants.

What if the reason of this, its play a wide range of songs to arrive with that songs well played when he gets to the RAH and then record all nights and in the end release a 2cd record with those songs, leaving out the DS classics, so more space to his solo songs?  :think

It would be a dream if that could happen. And that would be a nice explanation of why the RAH shows can

By the time he will reach the RAH he may change only song from one night to another. We are still quite early on the tour and Mark is experiencing.
The big question is does "SOS" to be dropped for good?
Doing it some nights  and not others may sounds a bit harsh for people that come for the first time are have no luck because they are just there the bad night for them.
I experienced that situation with PONO and TOL and steel feel bad about this over 20 years after!

From the point of view that 99% of the attendance see only one show on the tour, to me a setlist with almost not variation is not a problem.
If we decide to do multiple show it is our business.

This year is a very big gamble...

Yes, I have the same concern... what if in my concert he plays Bonaparte, but the next day that I wont be there he plays Gator blood?

For example  :o

It's quite funny really;  for years we've wanted change and now we're not happy with it!  It's of course down to the songs he's changing and when we thought about change we assumed it would be the "little" songs for rarities and not the mainstays he's played for ever.  This is just far too radical and when the ultimate is dropped then enough is enough.  I think it's great to see the passion it's stirred up on the forum though - it shows just how much Mark's music means to us all.

I think the setlist will change even more, starting with Amsterdam, when Ruth Moody joins the tour and then in UK, when we will have Nigel Hitchcock.  Then at the RAH - Ruth AND Nigel!   It could get very interesting!    8)

If we refer to the rehearshal picture and comment, Nigel will probably perform on a song that is already part of the current setlist.
