I heard at the start of the games team GB were hoping to finish 8th and then 4th in London 2012.  Looks like they've made better progress than they expected! :D

Well, it's not all over 'till the fat lady sings, as they say!  GB may still end at 8th, but I hope they keep up their present success!   :)

Jimmy Page with Leona (WHO!!!!!!) Lewis at the closing ceremony.!!!

I kept dreaming how cool that would have been if it had been Mark on the top of the double decker bus. (Not with Leona) :-\

Come on UK 2012. Mark Knopfler playing a heavy part in the opening ceremony.

You can't get a more British example of greatness.

My sentiments, exactly, BBB. LEONA WHO?????? She certainly seemed tall.

Shall we start a worldwide petition, to the Mayor of London? MARK KNOPFLER FOR THE OPENING CEREMONIES, LONDON OLYMPICS, 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll sign!

Do you think Mark would succumb to our gallant wishes?

YAY, LONDON!

Hehe, some of Chinese MK fans said Jimmy Page is so old now. IN 2012, we really need someone like MK who is still energetic and passionate not only from his shape of mouth but also from his unique fingers of picking!!!   Good luck, London!!!

Of course that would be great, I'm not so sure that's Mark's sort of thing now.  He seems happier out of the limelight as such.

I agree, MK would be the perfect choice. . . . I can see where McCartney or EC or Elton might be asked, but MK outshines anyone else.   And he would donate any fee to charity.   (not that McCartney or EC wouldn't.)   Jagger wouldn't.     Only MK has grown and stretched his talent over the years.

Now who do you think would win?  Here's a thought.  MK and who?
Elton,
McCartney,
that Lewis lady,
what's her name who won the grammy?  tattoos, eyemake up to Mars,  (don't intend to be disrespectful, just can't remember her name)
Phil Collins,
EC,
NOT Jagger
Steve Phillips
Brendan Croker
Dusty Valentino
help--my brain is fried after two hours of editing some fiction.  (not ours)
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along

Only Dusty could beat MK if trying hard through these 4 years  ;D  But hey, what about a band formed up with:

Mark Knopfler - Lead Les Paul Gibson and Vocal ( a MFN belt on the head? ;D)
Eric Clapton - Rhythm Fender (with cigarette on the head of his guitar  :P )
Elton John - Rock 'n Roll Piano (with his feather hat on  8) )
Alan Clark - Melody Keyboards ( Playing the intro of ToL ;))
Sting - Reggie Bass (Not seen him playing Bass on MFN yet, a pity  :-[)
Phil Collins - Heartbreaking Drums ( My former hero :D)
Ray Cooper - Various Percussions  (Hope he's not retired yet  :-\)

Tina Turner?  And Bryan Adams?  The old, yes, but the best for ever in my opinion.  I thought you would bring Roger Water on the stage, lol.
