I was there and I agree 99.99% with herlock, also about the criticism re criticism...

I do not agree with "s it the (slighty) more prominent synth ?" in TR.
It was too loud and seemed even sharp at times...
Dislike...
The way he sings and plays guitar
            Still brings me to tears

Some good point there Herlock.  I think they were in safe mode the whole night really, playing as though they knew it was being recorded and it was the first night with the possibility of mistakes!

Bearing that in mind I think the solos were the shortest ever, but the concert was energetic.  This is always a case for the first gig and I hear the audience was a fanatical sold-out one which helps too.

Yes, the versions were quite good (or better than expected) but I'd like to see the solo's become longer.  If I'm correct TR was a full minute shorter than last tour in it's final solo!

I do disagree on Crows though;  I think it's far better now with Mark actually playing some audible guitar during the lyrics of the song.  Last year that part of the song just felt flat.  I still think the solo at the end ends rather abruptly, but then I want all his solos to go on forever! ;D
Indeed TR was shorter...
As for Crows, I don't know, I just have this irrational love of Saskatoon version. I play it over and over on my Iphone :) I think it is this "guitar crying" in the final solo, the best I have heard so far.

Been searching for that too.  And Corned Beef, because I thought that was a little raw too!  [groan] ::)

i'm no fan of CBC... sounds like "cheap" R&R to me... a bit the same way I felt about Heavy Fuel at the time...

I know what you mean, but it is a bit of a rocker so it's a good "live" song - gets the crowd going.  In contrast to Haul Away which, although a pleasant enough song, just doesn't cut it live at all for me.

Agreed. Haul Away does not do it live for me... not even sure it does it with the studio version :) My wife loves it though, and since she also likes Celine Dion and Lara Fabian, that makes me all the more worried for the quality of the song :D

In my humble opinion it's rude to compare MK to any of those.
Not even his worst tunes; while Haul Away surely doesn't belong to the latter

Surely the crapest song he ever played live was Fizzy and the still. What on earth was he thinking? I should have bought my kids along to get them to sleep.

It doesn't sound that bad in the context of the KTGC album, but that is saying more about the quality of the album.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Can't remember him playing The Fizzy And The Still live. Only the Fish And The Bird.
