RAH not to be sold in usb soundboard
« on: March 28, 2013, 12:17:55 PM »
Guy says this in his forum about why the RAH shows are not availables to be bought in usb soudboards:

There are reasons. It would be imprudent for me to say more.

Of course it sayd nothing concrete. The usual suspect is that the RAH copyright would be expensive, as usual, but me, as naive am I, link this to the another inconcrete answer by Guy about doing a dvd from this tour...

Lets be naive, lets imagine... The reason why the RAH shows are not included to be sold is that they are going to record the RAH shows by themselfs and release a live cd and dvd of it...

Wouldnt be great?

Its difficult to confront my naive and my unbeliever personalities  ;D

You can keep on dreaming. It's the same reason why they didn't record RAH in 2010 after the first show. RAH asks too much money ;-(

Yes I know I can still dream, but, we already know that RAH asks too much for it but why it would be imprudent for Guy to say something we already know?

Because it's a qualified opinion. What is too much?

I dont know the figures but it should be enough to prevent MK to record and sell that shows...

As I posted in another thread, this is the answer I got from MK.com:

Hi xxx,

The Royal Albert Hall shows are not included for contractual reasons. Sorry for any disappointment.

Maybe its some clause in the contract that MK and the RAH signs for the rent of the venue... Strange anyway.

Yes. and the RAH is not the sole place in that case.
Already in 2005 there was a problem like that for the Passalong release, one of the planned US download had to be cancelled.

My guess is a RAH-DVD... Hence the contractual reasons!

From Guy's forum this morning!

Question:  Hi Doc, I know all the current tour shows will be available to listen to, but will any of them be filmed for release on DVD or British TV later?

Guy:  Yes. More to come on that.

Sounds promising!    :D

Excellent news Val ! :)
If I can allow myself a suggestion: my experience with Guy is that you should only ask ONE precise question per message, otherwise when he says "yes" you don't know which part exactly he is yessing. In your case, this could be "DVD" or "British TV", which is not at all the same: "British TV" could not even mean that the concert will be broadcasted, but just that a few elements are filmed just for a documentary...
This beeing said I have a great feeling this year for a blu-ray release of "Alchemy II" or "On the night II", 30 or 20 years after the originals :)
Hope they alternate YTC, KOG, BTT, 5.15am... a lot during the RAH shows, and that they compile everything together !

Oh no, Herlock!   Now I feel deflated and disheartened!    :(     I will still try to keep optimistic though!    ;)

PS - It wasn't my question - someone else's!   :)

Very good news. If memory serves, Guy never answered so directly to a DVD question in the past, even during the 2006 tour.

as I suggested before, I think that it's not urgent to rush on bying the sticks IMHO .
maybe we can dream about a special deluxe box set with some comp of rare played tunes during the tour, maybe a special edition stick ?

I can't go for this tour, but I did'nt purchased any stick yet. I prefer wait to see what will come.... :think

From Guy's forum!  :disbelief

Question: It seems that there is no USB pre-order available for the RAH shows. I sense a Mark Knopfler: Live at Royal Albert Hall dvd coming our way. With five shows from which to choose, it surely provides enough material for choosing the best of the best in terms of setlist and performances or special guests... Just hypothesizing.

Guy:  mm sadly not
