Like Mona Dee said it seems to be a matter of taste. I actually don't mind WOL. So far away is a dull song in my opinion. WOL and SFA are the only two songs I hear in the philly area on the radio. Sultans of swing and Lady writer used to be on occasionally, but I haven't caught them in about 10 years. I heard Cleaning my Gun on WXPN back when it came out. My jaw dropped in shock that it was played.
I actually like the bluesy songs on Privateering, it took a few listens for me to get into them, since I'm not a MK fan for his blues, but it grew on me. I revisited You can't beat the house after this, hoping I'd get into it, but it just isn't happening.
I like Do America, My parties, and Ticket to heaven for the humor value they have in making light of the touring life of a rock star, a rich guy entertaining, and religious leaders taking blatant advantage of their followers respectively. I like millionaire blues and don't crash the ambulance for the same reason.
