are you sure dmg ? after all we discussed about Marks' music now, I wouldn't rate Privateering as "the best double album in rock history"....
I go for Electric Ladyland. or first rays of the rising sun, if we can count this one.
I love the white album, but as many rock critics pointed out, it lacks an "album" mood, and it's surely the les "beatles" album.
It's more a comp of great songs by each member. few ones are played by the 4 together BTW.
Exile on main st. as less "catch" songs, but as a more unit sound , so it can be heard more as an album as the beatles one IMHO
