Brendan Crocker live recording
« on: February 04, 2013, 07:26:11 PM »
Very slowly, I'm beginning to sort out my music "stuff" following our house move. I've found those cassettes I didn't throw away and an old cassette machine that works (in fact, just about my oldest - a "boom box" style radio/recorder) and have now set it up. I have started to Fast Forward some of the cassettes through it, in order to loosen their workings a bit.

Meanwhile, playing now is Brendan Croker who I recorded at the Bridge Hotel in Newcastle on 11 Novemeber 1993, with his prior permission.  "My Own Sweet Way" is playing as I type and he played other NHB songs that evening. Ray Stubbs  [  http://www.myspace.com/raystubbsonemanband  ] joined him on harmonica at one point. Alan Clark was in the audience that night, too and Brendan referred to him a couple of times.  The quality of the recording is quite good.  Is it worth keeping this recording? What do you think?

Please e-mail me, pottel.

I've only looked at a few cassettes so far. There are all sorts here, including a lot of radio programmes (concert  broadasts, documentaries, interviews, specials etc) such as (and I don't know if dmg can recall this) the "Original Masters" series with John Cavanagh on BBC Radio Scotland. I used to play them on car journeys.

I'm afraid I don't recall this.  I do however recall the TV series Cavanagh QC if that's any help? ;D

dmg, Kavanagh QC doesn't help, I'm afraid. I'm presently playing the ORIGINAL MASTERS programme with Pink Floyd as a theme - it started with "See Emily Play" (my time period for Floyd), with tracks by Pink Anderson and Floyd Council and, at present, a discussion with Glen Povey, who wrote a book about early Floyd. What else will come on, I wonder. The programme is mainly about Syd Barrett but there are other (non-Floyd) artists's tracks interspersed here and there.

jbaent, there are probably some DS/MK recordings but nothing you won't have already. I did see the 1997 broadcast of MK's Bristol concert in 1996, for example.

I'm currently thinking about which of all these cassettes to transfer on to CD and then I'll decide how to do it.

I'll note that but should add that, though the programme was entitled "Original Masters", they only played released material. Much of the chat was about Syd Barrett.
