Coincidence or not?
The picture of Guy's diary San Diego entry is this one:

Note that Guy put this image BEFORE the San Diego gig.

I don' think so. Guy do alwasy that : he prepares the page and put the tour poster before the show, and when he wrote his diary page, he uplaod his pics

I wouldn't hold your breath;  last years contributions were rubbish.  Let's wait and see.

Several were great.

Guy takes this picture as  a "place holder" since beginning of the tour - as long as the entry is "awaiting content" - so it is nothing unusual..

Don't know if this has been posted before:

If it has, I apologise.

The reader's comment down below cracked me up... He blames the sound engineer for Dylan's indecipherable vocals LOL

Good to know they played together at last but I still think (not that I have stated it here) this tour makes no sense at all.

Bob is Bob, everyone knows that, but no matter how much Mark looks up to him nobody will ever convince me that it is a good deal for any of the two.

From Bob's perspective he invited a 'super-guest' who outshines him every evening whereas Mark has to deal with the tight set-list - and schedule in general - and... Bob!

Perhaps I am looking at this from a solely MK fan viewpoint in that I have no real interest in Krusty's music other than Marks playing on it.  Some of his songs I quite enjoy from what I've heard, but I've only listened to them because Mark's playing on them.  From this point of view, I've been very disappointed with the involvement.

You should listen to his records! The best of them are as good as Mark's best. "Love and Theft" for instance, the one "Summer Days" is from, is one of the all-time greatest albums I know. Unbelievably good.

For people like me it DOES make sense. I'm huge MK fan, and I'm a huge BD fan. That the two of them should tour together after all these years was the greatest news I heard in a decade!

I respect your opinion but in my opinion it was cool last year but could have ended there. To me it's like getting goose bumps from a great guitar solo and then replaying it. The taste will never be the same, the magic's gone.

For sure, the whole string of Time Out of Mind (1997), Love and Theft (2001) and Modern Times (2006) are among his best jobs. Summer days is not one of my favs from this time, but Bye and bye is for certain, as it is Tryin' to get to heaven, Make you feel my love and Honest with me.

I was in the same boat as you last year as I attended the 2nd show of the tour and never saw them play together.  No great loss in hindsight but I suppose just to be there and see them on stage together would be a thrill.  Like last years tour it seems ill-conceived and underrehearsed.  Must be difficult, nae impossible with Krusty touring non-stop.

thnx for the article twm, and no it hadn't
Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler are now 14 shows into their joint autumn tour, but it wasn't until their Wednesday night San Diego concert at Valley View Casino Center that the two actually performed a song together.

Their much-anticipated collaboration came midway through Dylan's 92-minute set, when Knopfler -- who opened the night by delivering a remarkably tasteful set with his seven-man band -- joined Dylan on stage. With Dylan's five-man band providing the backing, Knopfler added guitar to the boogie woogie-fueled "Summer Days," a choice cut from Dylan's 2001 album, "Love and Theft."

Dylan sang "Summer Days" from behind a grand piano. Knopfler was notably deferential, adding a few Les Paul-inspired guitar filigrees, but clearly holding back, lest he detract from the star of the show. As a result, the song simmered nicely, without ever hitting a full boil. Perhaps the "Summer Days" collaboration was a test run for Dylan and Knopfler's Friday night concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

As he often does, Dylan transformed some of his best-known songs -- including "Things Have Changed," "Tangled Up in Blue," "It Ain't Me, Babe" and the encore of "Blowin' in the Wind" -- so dramatically that they almost sounded brand new. Other parts of the concert were uneven, but never predictable. At 71, this sly old road dog still clearly has some engaging new tricks up his dapper, if well-weathered, sleeves.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....
