Eternal Flame -UPDATE
« on: October 13, 2012, 09:34:21 PM »
OKKK, maybe this is not the right place to put this, but what the heck, the whole idea is to get the songs heard .....maybe someone here could like it this type of music.... :wave

Eternal Flame was a band i had with some mates when i was younger, from 95 to 2001. It was a heavy rock band very much influenced by Maiden, Helloween and (some) Purple. This band is long gone but we decided to record some stuff so it wont get lost in space and time. emoticon
Its pretty much what we did back in the day, we didnt do almost any changes in the songs, so what you hear is very very close to the way the originals sounded.
Hope you like it.

Ancient Warriors

Redland

Nightmares

Take Care

Im playing guitars and drums.

UPDATE

Five more songs:

Out of Control

First song we ever wrote back in 94 or 95. Very Maiden inspired. Second solo is an attempt to a Blackmorish slide work emoticon

I Broke the Cross

A favorite of mine right now.

End of times

Second song we wrote back in the day. Again, very Maiden sounding. Features a strange solo!

Eternal Sorrow

More of a sad/ballad song. A crownd favorite back in the days (on pubs of course emoticon )

In the Twilight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnTdNH46kpM&feature=youtu.be

Faster/modern sounding song.

ferguitar, I heard them all once but very carefully, mainly because my first records were Maiden and Helloween and purple! By the way I have seen your MK&RB riffs video before I knew it was you! Nice job.Now about the songs.
Redland has a nice solo with many licks reminiscent of MK and RB!! Bravo! A peculiar combination of the metal riff with the  epic style vocals, but the voice could be much better.
Nightmares had backward guitars or something? More Purple sounding during the solo this one, with the organ-guitar interplay. I have to say that the combination of  styles is unique and a bit strange for the ear. Not bad at all!
Ancient warriors have this clever eastern guitar pattern, and the whole structure and solo could be taken from a Maiden song (sorry for the references, they are unique, by all means.) I think this is the most complete song of the set.
Take care was interesting but the first solo was a  little out of place and rhythm. The second was fitting and maiden like. Must be the one I liked least.
With a bit more rehearsing you could have been very good.  I know it sounds weird coming from me, with a guitar that complains when I touch it, but why not try playing a level or two below your abilities? That will make you play with more confidence and precision. I mean, playing songs like "No one came" with the simple driving bass theme and improvisational guitar and organ solos could greatly help you show your chops!
Thanks for the music. :)
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Thanks for taking time to listen! People this days are only interessed in what they already know......In terms of drums im not near my level of ability....ive been playing drums for almost 20 years now.........the guitars.......well ...these days im use to play more of a laid back MK style ( like you said i put some of it on the songs) but its not always fitting......but i think sounds OK LOL. The vocals, well, its too damn HIGH pitch, so, i will back up my vocalist here......no auto tune or whatever.
I think music is not about being perfetc, its about moving people. I know exacly how many mistakes the songs have, but what the hell..... ;D
Thank you again......
Im finishing my REAL project now.....more soon.
PS - those MK riffs on the youtube, i HATE IT, i can play so much better....... :'(

In the twilight was one of the most solid songs. The vocals were not that bad, either. The lyrics of all songs are pretty weak though.(By the way the endind keyboard notes reminded me of "foreplay" by Boston  ;) )
Eternal sorrow unfortunately had vocals that didn't let me go deeper into the song. It is the pronounciation that mostly ruins it.
Out of control is the best.
I broke the cross was OK as well. The vocals blend better and eventhough you are not Kiske, you are not Hansen either!
End of times has very nice guitar patterns (a bit unorthodox cut after the solo but it doesn't matter)
Longe de Mim, is more pop and eventhough it has the vocals in the front, they sound better and the language barrier is a problem for me.  ;) And the tom tom in the beginning is a bit annoying. The main riff reminds me of "Bohemian like you" (which in turn reminds me of Keith).
Rock and roll star was good fun.
Pais natural (spacetracking anyone?) is good too.
Outro Lugar is interesting.

Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Thanks for listening. Im not singing here, neighter the Flame songs or the Sabinas songs, but i will pass your comments to the singers... OUCH. Well, taste is taste but this are damn high and hard songs to sing, not your usual talk the whole way trough type of vocals..... :wave, i thought the backing vocals worked pretty good.....but it means a great deal u took time to listen and coment.

I had a similar talk about photographic art today. Taking the time to listen or to see is one thing. Saying an opinion a second and enjoying a third. But when it comes to creating the art yourself, you have to be the most strict judge of all. Upon thousands of photos I have come to like with just a few  hundrends, that I absolutely think that work for others as well. Music is a totaly different thing, in this sense: you can be forgiving when it comes in live music, because when you are in the mood you tend to let many things go. But recorded music, with repeated plays reveals the qualities and the mistakes. I heard some of your songs 2-3 times, and I downloaded them to hear them again. Vocals are a very sensitive issue, because like you, English is not my native language, and all the Greek singers have similar problems when it comes to pronounciation. Noticing is the first thing.  You can have the best voice in the world, you will not achive a thing with wrong pronounciation. I do believe that some groups, like Scorpions, Nektar, Helloween, Europe,  etc would have better luck and more sales with singers that actually are English or American. The good music is there, and that is what saves them. But Klaus Meine must sound pretty weird to English people. Kai Hansen surely does, apart from his high pitched, almost screeming voice. But Helloween's first two records are written with hs strange voice in mind and they work pretty well. Halford has a peculiar, unique voice but he is English!
Don't pass any of my comments, it would be a shame to make people sad. It is just good fun singing, (I know and I have a terrible voice), so don't ruin it for them! As I mentioned, when you have pretty strong (loud) songs the vocals blend better. Also when they  are not in the front of the mix, but a bit low, it helps as well. If you go for official recordings maybe you should consider getting an American or Englishman to sing the songs. I have heard of cases, and they work fantastic. Carry on the good work! Thank you for the music.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
