herlock,

I used a Sony Digital voice recorder icd px312. The original file is in mp3. I had to convert to flac to upload to the tracker.  I haven't listened to  the recording from soomlos yet. Mine sounded great to me.

I don't know how to split tracks.

Actually, let me correct myself, YTC from SF 17.10 has a end solo which is as long as Saskatoon ! yes ! so why a short solo for Berkeley and Sacremnento afterwards ? :(

wow, sweetsurrender, you sure the original file is mp3? if so then you need to list that in your upload. in case the recordings you made remain the only ones for that date it is ok, but the moment another non mp-3 source pops up your recording will become "2nd grade"
i do not say this to discredit you (never ever!) but it is something you need to know if you found fun in taping and want to do it again in the future.
still, thnx for ALL your hard work!
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Hello Sweet surrender

If the original files are mp3, convert them to flac its a nonsense, you better let them as mp3, because flac is to be used with high quality formats to preserve the high quality, mp3 are lossless files so there is nothing to conserve, put them into flac only had "size" to the files, but not quality.

There is a "sub-tracker" in Laknopflertk called MKLIVE for mp3 sources concerts, maybe its better to put them there in mp3.

Thanks for record and share!

Good God people, i cant believe what i'm reading. People complaining about setlists and versions and solos lenghts... Do you even realize how incredibly and unbelievably lucky you are to be able to hear and see mark knopfler LIVE?
I understand that everyone's got there favourite songs, my first picks would probably not be DWB or RBT or Marbletown,  despite them being fantastic songs, but i would just be greatful to the God of music (also known as MK) and quit complaining...
There are THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of MK fans all over the world who dont even have the chance to assist to the man's shows solely because of geographical reasons, e.g. i live in Uruguay, so just to travel to USA or Europe would be like 1500 usd and that's just something i cant afford...
And i breathe MK night and day, i've probably downloaded evertythig there is to download from the tracker, even made a couple of dvd's myself, man... it would really be a dream come true to assist to a a MK show, every time a new tour is announced and South America is left out it feels like that's all it will ever be, a dream...
I dont mean to be rude or anything but come on people, quit complaining and be grateful to life for this chance you've been given and enjoy it for the rest of us who have to settle with recordings  :) :)

I too second my neighbour. But I also think you lucky bastards form USA/Europe can disgree with the setlist, the quality of solos and everything else. It's only good to add a new perspective to this situation. If you have in mind that many fans don't have the opportunity you have, watching him live - and in some cases, more than once in a tour - maybe you will be thinking "well, this solo is crap, but is still good, because I am here".

Now this is a joke, but have you watched the video about first world problems? Actually, we from South America are far from this kind of issues, but this discussion made me think about this video.
Love over gold, mind over matter

Is there a way I can send them personal emails of thanks for what they have done.
So awesome. I'm blown away with the quality. Sound almost like Simfy recordings.

Personally, I prefer them to the Simfy ones and not just in terms of the mix.

You can send a post of thanks on the Dime page where the individual torrent is posted but I guess you know that.

Great solo on KOG :thumbsup, but I just don't like that song AT ALL!!! :thumbsdown

Actually this reopens the soundboard vs. audience debate. I tend to prefer soundboard for their perfect clarity, but a good audience recording can be quite competetive, capturing the real atmosphere rather than going into artificial mixing issues. I have to admit that Soomlos recording have little to envy to Simfy soundboard recordings !

dmg, I am luckier than you are, we both think the KOG solo is great, but in addition, I really love the song ! I reminds me a bit of a DS gem than Mark seems to have forgoteen -  Iron hand. The melody is a bit repetive, but the melancoly of the song is very touching.

I have made a "best of 2011-2012" playlist on my Iphone and I am really happy with it, I recommend it !

- What It is from Winnipeg (for the drums intro that never surfaced again)
- Yon Two Crows from Saskatoon (awsome and longer solo than any other recording)
- Kingdom of Gold from SF 2nd night (enough said !)
- Redbud Tree from Regina (the best version because the solo changes a bit from the album version - too bad the song seems to be dropped !)
- Brothers in arms and Speedway at Nazareth from London 21.11.2011 (awsome)
- Sailing to Philadelphia and Cleaning My Gun from Regina
- Daddy's gone to Knoxville from Winnipeg
- A night in Summer Long Ago from Sacramento
- Miss you Blues from Regina (not so great, but anyway)

- All others songs (CBC, HFB, MT, SFSL, DWB, HA, SFA, Privateering, I used to Could) from Saskatoon, best recording IMHO.

I am really, really happy with this playlist ! :)

Cheers

I've spent the day putting all my downloads onto CD for archive and after listening to San Francisco shows and later the band seem to have changed the arrangements slightly here and there, Mark has dusted off the cobwebs and the band is beginning to work now just as it should have from the word go.

The show now is another matter altogether - that still doesn't thrill me.

I think Mark's been reading my post's because the arrangement of Crows has changed in exactly the way I had suggested earlier! 8)

Now this is interesting, in what way did Crow change exactly and when ? I still think Saskatoon is the best version because the end solo (from the last vocal to the end of the song) is 1''40' instead of 1'26'' on most other recordings; SF 1rs night is almost as long but I feel the sound is not as good as Saskatoon and Mark's guitar cannot be heard properly... Before the solo, it seems that the change is that I can hear violin/other instruments a bit more to back Mark's vocals, is this what you are referring too ? what is your favourite version ?
Cheers
