i now believe the first show was not recorded , at least not by the people we hoped for, as security was simply too severe (once inside)

I dont get the point of forbid the recordings, specially when the MK management allows them, and the venue was just their rehearsal room, hired by themselfs...

Probably because there wasn't really a stage as such or any kind of proper barrier between the audience and the band and expensive gear.  You know how crazy MK fans are! ;)

I can understand security when it comes to the musicians and gear, and the venue itself, but what I dont get is why forbid recordings or photos, if that was the case, specially in that intimate venue, because sometimes venues forbid recordings even the artists allow the fans to record, which I dont get at all...

I recall reading Guy telling that the management had take note of all the recordings they made during the past and suggested that something might be happening with them... Not only we still dont have any news about it but also we dont have any news about this two recent shows or the upcoming ones...

They had demonstrated that the unmixed and direct soundboard feed is good enough (the extra tracks from the 3 cd edition of Privateering sounds far better than the mixed Madrid 2010...), so they can do it pretty quickly and easily as they have a digital store etc etc etc etc

Nevermind...

I can understand that our amiters didnt recorded the show because of the security but...

What about some reviews? I read comments about a dashboard that I dont understand, and it would be great to read in which tracks Richard plays Pedal Steel Guitar...

Etc etc

Marky49 also stated that she liked Mark's playing on Kingdom of Gold. Now I wonder, what exactly did he play on that? There is hardly no lead guitar on that track on the album, is it?

I dont know how, I missed this Marky49 review...

Thanks Marky!

Hi,

Just a few words from me us I'm waiting for boarding...I shoot a car race at Nuerburgring tomorrow.
I met Paul outside the studio and had a quick chat. The complex is an old factory place, in a not so nice area. Guy, Mike and Richard said hello when we were brought in to the rehearsal room and I was standing right infront MK, little bit to the right. No photos allowed and we were watched tight!
The sound was bad at the beginning, MK's guitar very loud, his voice too low. It improved over time.
My favourite was 'kingdom' great playing of MK. Mike also played guitar and drums, Knoxville not my cup of tea.

Guy lost a lot of weight, nice haircut and shaved! :)

They don't want us to record, they don't want us to attend any of the warm up gig, either because we are not UK-resident or because there was no competition in our country. Not enough, they don't want to tour in our country next year.
What are they afraid of ?  Our presence ? Too bad, we've decided to have some fun next year.  ;)

The washboard can also be seen in Guy's diary!

On the right of this photo, is it Mike?

What a very low stage... If you were in the firsts rows it had to be great, but if you were in the middle or behind a tall person... No way to see anything during the whole concert...  :(

I wondered about that myself. :-\

I think that " Knoxville " is close to " Beanstalk " on the new album. Songs who haven't a big apeal to me  ::)

I've been noticing this similarity too. Otherwise, I like both of them a lot

In both shows there were just two songs from the DS era. Is it possible that we are witnessing a new path here? Or these setlists don't represent at all a microworld of next year's tour?

About the songs themselves, I always thought that I was the only one who don't like the live versions do What it is, and now I read a post with the same opinion. Got a little "happier", I'm not alone. Actually, I've always considered the studio versions of What it is and Marbletown far better than the live recordings. Same with Boom like that.

And Kingdom of gold, forgive me the ones who like it, but it's almost all the time a skipper. Would'nt be on my setlist. Radio city serenade, that would be a thumbs up for me.

I find it hilarious that Guy has these shows on his site listed as "secret shows."  He then goes on to say they are situated in the Tower Bridge Business Complex and gives us the dates and pictures too!  Top secret! :lol
