The demo of Sultans sounds different than from the original red/white single. Is this the Charlie Gillett demo?

Noted that "it's raining in the park" sounds like "it's RAIning in the park"...

Don' t you mix up here two things? The Single was not the demo. The demo was an extra recording which got available some years later with a CD called "The Honkey Tonk Demoes" if I am not mistaken. I fear I am but there are lots of people around here knowing more about this than me. But what John has on his Apple IS the demo version.

For a few seconds, i doubted if this is really the 61 Fender. It looks so fresh! I thought Mark took one of his signature ones...

Val, I erased my Beatles post because it was the wrong thread. No idea how that happened. Never managed to do that in nearly 3000 posts...  ???

This new clip is a REAL appetizer for the show. Wow I loved it. Mark just has to play those little Sultans parts and I am a happy camper. This rhythm part is one of the best things in the history of rock n' roll!

I like that the guitars are literally numbered. I guess guitar number one, but if the Strat is Nr. 3, which one will be the second?

Hearing him say "which I haven't heard for 35 years" is a total other experience than reading about it. He is so authentic, I believe him without any doubt that he indeed has never heard the demo again. And listening to live recordings in case of choosing the best one for a live release must be a very hard thing to do for him.

This is really a great appetizer. I want more!  ;D

1. Les Paul 58
2. National
3. Strat 61

There is also the monteleone. Which are the two others ?

I don't think the first one will be the Les Paul. I thought they would do it in chronological order.. so the red Hofner (KTGC promo picture thingi) guitar will probably be the first, it was seen in the first trailer. But the National as the second could be true. The "drove to Wales in the pouring rain" story did take place something before Dire Straits times, did it?

IMHO the 1st guitar should have been the 61 or the national, the 2 iconic Mark's guitar in term of sound and visual

the SOS demo was recorded on 27/07/1977, given to Charlie Gillet, and later featuring on the CD "honky tonk demos"

The SOS single version was recorded on 20/04/1978

And yes Mark bought his 2 national (style 'O' and tricone) long before Dire Straits, and before the 61, I guess in the first half of the 70s
