It is a great way for John Illsley to benefit from his fame (and no malicious meaning here). I think it is fair enough that meeting Mark Knopfler must have been the best day in his life. So now, instead of trying to imitate him on the guitar or playing bad versions of Sultans, he does (for us) the best he can:
Introducing Mark to us! Now I wonder, which other great guitarists did he meet during his career? I mean, meeting in the sense of becoming friendly with?
Any ideas? Brian May maybe? Hank B. Marvin? Eric Clapton of course...

I am right though when I think that this will be a series of episodes and any episode will be about another guitarist?  ???

Sky Arts is bizarrely only available in HD if you get your Sky TV from Virgin!  Get it from Sky and you cannot get HD! :disbelief

EDIT:   Actually, it is!  I was misled by the Radio Times that was a little vague, but having checked on the TV it is actually HD from Sky too. :-[

That's strange indeed. However, I would be happy to have this show in black/white though!  :lol

Really love to listen to Mark talking these days. The Ferrari line is great indeed, really into it. He used to talk slowly, searching for words and stuff in earlier years. Today he seems to be just a real good, well educated, eloquent kind of guy. The kind of guy I would not bother to have around and talking to for ages.

Wow, this looks like a dream come true for all MK fans, and fans of the guitar in general. I don't have Sky, but I do have YouTube ;)
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Amazing pics. Where did you find them?

Love the sunglasses by the way. A bit Jack Nicholson, but I like them.

Do you remember that Steve Phillips concert where MK played some songs with him and was about to be broadcasted in the future?

Is this programme.

We didnt know that when we knew about the Steve Phillips thing, but the songs recorded are in the trailer of this documentary.

I love that is John Illsley the one that presents Mk documentary, they are not only friends but they are the two remaining Dire Straits!!!!!

That trailer is amazing, it seems, they all together had a lot of fun. Looking forward to see the whole film.

Thanks for posting.
