Fade to black alternate

Hi there
I've been always reading about a kind of Fade to black's original rythm, changed by MK in the very moment of recording. My question is, is there any available version of this song delivered in the so called Chuck Berry mood? If the answer is yes, where can I find it?

I think it's like asking for Sultans of Swing in its original arrangement on an acoustic guitar. Good luck finding that

Mark told us during the OES promo, I think it was said in the EPK, or how to call this stuff that was in general sent over Europe at all radio stations with this American kind of guy moderator voice...
Mark said it just didn't work, it was more in a Chuck Berry style, pure rock n' roll and when they "just tried" and changed the rhythm, it worked.

He used it as an example for a one or several "one take recordings" on the album, if I remember correctly...

In the same way, when he played your own sweet way in 2002 at the Mk& friends gigs, he changed the orginal rhythm (shuffle) to straight time

the original Sultans version was composed on the National, but I doubt any recording exist. He changed it to the known version before recording demos in july 77, so the only reoridng which might be existing would be a home recording, on tape recording or so ? but I doubt it

I have always wondered what alternative versions of DS and MK songs there are in the archives, I know The Beatles have lots, but I'm sure Mark has recorded alternative versions of his songs before they reached the version we now know about.

And about "Fade to Black" being a one-take recording: If that's true, it really shows what an incredible guitarist he was back then.

Yeah, it would be hard to decide upon any example of Mark's holy graal of music... Once I've heard he played a little bit of it in an interview, but probably this 8th wonderful does not exist.

I only found the shepperd bush version, but it's in the "normal" rhyhtm :

 

I'm a quite sure I heard it in straight time. I have the video at home, will check, but I 'm afraid not before monday...


About the one take on FTB, I heard him saying this on a french radio shwo during OES promo : He said they all played "live" together......

Well, there's a torrent at LA KnopflerTK from a 1998 NHB Ronnie Scotts' concert. I'll try to download it to check out the different version of Your own sweet way. Thanks for the info!
