I know google translator is at best rubbish, but that really didn't sound like Mark at all in that interview.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

The whole interview is to be found in the printed edition.
See the pre-view link, it's on page 4 today.

Thanks, I have bought the newspaper today; I prefer to read stuff in newspapers rather than online anyway; I just thought that a link would be easier to post on FB. Maybe I'll take a photo of the article then.

It must be the translation as it doesn't come across as Knopfler in any way lol. I know he'd most likely have those opinions of these dreadful casting shows but just imagined he'd not say it in such a way lol.... Good on him.

Did this one slip through the net?

From a guitarist's point of view I'm very picky at the fact he's playing incorrect chords in some parts of the song ;P (let's not mention it should be a capo on the 3rd fret in open G tuning :P)

MK: Since the end of the Dire Straits has again become easier. On my new album, "Privateering" is a song called "Seattle", which is just created, such as "Sultans of Swing" or MFN. During my last tour I was sitting one evening in a bar in Seattle, watching a football game from Arsenal. At least as interesting was a young couple who sat within earshot, and relatively loud arguing. It was about the classic themes to burst dreams. Perhaps he had just lost his job, I do not know. From this I first great disappointment and disillusionment recognized in life, which I also remember exactly how it feels. I listened, thought about my own life, and then made a song out of it.

he wouldnt have been wanting the Arsenal to win thats for sure. MK is a firm Toon fan. they play the theme from local hero before the teams run out at every home match and have done for years.

No matter how bad this translation may be considered, I think it is the best one I have seen in years. Now compare this to Uncut's piece...
But still the use of music of MK in various shows (not only talent shows) amazes me. Recently I was watching a Simpsons episode (18x7) that they played a small piece of MFN! By the way Dusty on Simpsons (18x2) Bart shares his opinion about Phil Collins: "I was a great drummer and now I am nothing, just like Phil Collins"
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
