Mark played at Range Rover event yesterday...
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:56:26 AM »
I wasn't aware of this, but suddenly I see that Mark played a 60 min set of almost entierly DS songs yesterday at a Range Rover event where they introduced their new car. Do we talk about this somewhere? Or didn't anybody knew?

Certainly interesting that mainly DS songs were played.
Wonder if they were the usual suspects, or if he slipped a couple of rarities in. (I doubt it) :)

And a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles.

Has someone already asked Guy about the setlist?

Yes it does not...
Assuming this is true, the current DS subset in concerts (SoS, R&J, TR, BiA, SFA) totals around 45 min. So, even if all of them were played, that means that some others were played as well ! (unless 45 minutes out of 60 is what "mostly" means). So what could they be ? Why Worry ? Man's too strong ? Setting me up ? or, let's be crazy: 15 minutes is enough to play TOL ! :D

I'd imagine as this was a corporate  :disbelief show that Mark was being paid a fee for that he'd be playing what he was told to / or there was an agreed setlist with range rover friendly songs, my guess this would major on DS tunes.  I doubt that 'in my car' or 'heavy fuel' got played though.  Maybe Speedway at Nazareth.

I think this is great stuff.  Dusting the cobwebs off the oldies that haven't bee played for years;  there must have been some rarities!  I don't think TR or TOL would have been played at a function such as this though -  shorter, faster and all the well known ones would be there along with these rare ones.  The National was there so R&J is a banker!

I wonder if this is the direction the MK/BD tour will take, especially as he must have been rehearsing some of these songs, maybe to please the US/Canadian fans and also to impress some of the BD fans.   Maybe there will be a spin-off for us too, next year, with some lesser heard DS songs, as well as more songs from the current album.

Would like to hear Six Blade Knife, that would be great, but alas a dream.  My guess is any kind of 60 minute DS set would be based on a Mandela 88 set template or Egham 89 with the odd solo tune thrown in.

I don't hold out though for any notable amount of DS tunes in any forthcoming tour - MK is clearly ploughing his own furrow and has more than enough to draw from his solo catalogue.
