You Don't Know You're Born would merge perfectly into Seattle because they have virtually the same guitar riff, so it may be a possibility.

yes indeed, the chord progression /licks are the same, and iwth the same Marvin tone, but :

- both lead licks are a the end of each song
- YDKYB tempo is faster than Seatlle

so I don't see how it could be merged

Seattle is more like The Car Was the One than YDKYB in my opinion.

I bet Mk's "have you got anything else" joke is used this tour. He comes up with a good line every couple of years then does it to death.  :)

I think that Privateering, itself, would be a great opener. Gets me off my seat. Then slow down the pace with Miss You Blues. Follow that with CBC. Then batting cleanup, Bluebird. I think that'll set the mood for the rest of the night.

Here's my choices, even though I know that it'll never happen  :'(

   Privateering
   Miss You Blues
   Corned Beef City
   Bluebird
   Sailing to Philadelphia
   Hills Farmers Blues
   Redbud Tree
   Romeo & Juliette
   Sultans of Swing
   Radio City Serenade
   Dream of the Drowned Submariner
   Don't You Get It
   Telegraph Road
   Yon Two Crows

  ENCORES

   Haul Away
   Brothers In Arms
   Silvertown Blues

2nd Encore

   Follow The Ribbon
   Going Home

I Used To Could

A fantastic good-mood-song. Not possible to listen to this song without everything in movement.

Did I read it correctly that Guy gave us a hint in one of the answers on his Forum that Yon Two Crows made it to the new setlist? I always thought this piece has such a great 'live' potential so I am very happy it this turns out to be true.

...Well, he's a big star now but I've been a fan of his for years. The way he sings and plays guitar still bring me to tears...

I don't think any of the new songs makes a very good opener.  I'd like to hear So Far Away as an opener again, and Darling Pretty has never been played live in the US, so that would be a good selection also.

We should have an avatar poll/competition to find out who has the most liked one! ;D

I agree with you. And this song contains two guitar solos.

I was reading this topic from the beggining and was thinking about the average gig-goer, who is not a die-hard fan and just want to listen to the songs MK is known for. A show for members of this list would've to be a incredible mix of never played before gems and extended versions of some of the new album. But I turn to the average guy and if he goes to a MK gig and doesn't listen to anything on the mood of MfN, BiA, TR or ToL, R&J, WoL, SoS, he will return home and never again will take a glimpse at anything the man is doing in the future. Perhaps he'll also break some old DS cds in disgust.

So I think that MK is in dire straits coz he has to please three kinds os expectations in his tours. Firstly, he has to do it for himself. Rudiger and Done with Bonaparte maybe are the best examples of this fulfilment. Secondly, for the primary fans, to whom he always plays new stuff or extended versions. And thirdly, but not least, he has to play something to the people who don't follow his solo career and are waiting to hear the oldies goldies. And I guess these are the majority of people to pops up in a show.

So, when some of us vote for the exclusion of all the biggest hits in favour of obscure tunes, I fear for the success of the gig. It would be heaven for the die hard fans? Yes indeed. But it wouldn't satisfy more than a half of the crowd.

As for me, I live in a country 8.000 km away from the closest gig. In the few shows I was able to attend (two of them in my homecountry, Brazil), I was expecting to see the man playing SoS, MfN, BiA, ToL, TR, R&J, SFA, WoL. If he had dropped it all, I would grow old mourning that I never heard him play the music that made him famous.

I agree nababo.   My brother and his wife are coming to the Liverpool gig with us and I know that both of them will want to hear some DS songs.  It will be the first time they have seen MK/DS in concert and my brother loves TR.   I have told him that I am pretty sure it will be played, so I hope I'm not wrong!   ::)     Mark is right in keeping a few of the better-known DS songs on the set-list, for people like them, who are really only familiar with DS.   In fact, although I am happy to hear mainly MK solo songs myself, I do love TR, SOS and R&J and I know I would miss them if they weren't played.   :)
