What uninspired set lists. Its about time the band came out of their comfort zone and played some different songs and a longer show.
10-12 songs from the new album 4 or 5 from his earlier mk records and 3-4 dire straits songs ,tol, solid rock, lady writer and bia would do for me.Also rotate songs so that each set list has min 3-5 changes  every night. This is something most artists do so why these "master" musicians can't is beyond me.
Its not cheap to go to a concert playing the same set lists again and again is not really giving of your best.Still don't suppose much will change from previous tours, and as for requests don't even think about that.

Couldn't agree more with the above. If musicians are truly masters they can play anything or adapt at the drop of a hat, rather than just go on autopilot through a pre-programmed set.

When Prince played the 02 for 31 nights a few years ago, he and his band had rehearsed 100 songs. The set list was never the same twice and often even the band didn't know what they were going to play until Prince gave the signal on stage, usually mid-jam. Now THAT'S master musicianship.

Of course you're right.
Go to Bruce Springsteen's site and look at the setlists. They're never the same.
MK is different and he always plays the same setlist, unfortunately, though the messages we send to GF, we won't change him...

Not only does Bruce not play the same set every night but he usually pulls out a rarity or a tour premiere to make each show that much more special.

Yes, it's hard to imagine Mark on the 2013 tour (after performances of Single Handed Sailor and It Never Rains) saying "Here's a B side that was only available on the Portugese pressing of Money for Nothing that I'm going to do because I feel like it".

His setlist will be predictable, as always.  But ending his show with one of the Local Hero tunes (Wild Theme of Going Home) would be great. Is a little bit a tradition and without the famous Local Hero theme, a show isn't complete.

Regards,
Lars B.

I love Going Home and Wild Theme both, but I must say that Pipers was a good end too.

Yes but it was for the Get Lucky tour, as If this is goodbye / Why worry were for the Emmylou tour...

This is another tour so I guess GL songs will be out, I just hope he plays Get Lucky to remember that record  ;)

Changing the setlist every night is probably a tall order, but changing it (radically) every tour is not much to ask. It's not exactly free charity shows he's putting on either, and some people travel far and stay in hotels to see him. About time he does something about this.

A few days later, Guy answered "We have a US tour to think of first..."  which was of course a very true statement. We all seem to expect a more or less same US Bob set list as last year, which will probably be the case. And in your minds and because of pre-sale of course we are already discussing the 2013 one.   .  When they return from that tour in Nov., they will probably start rehearsing again end of March or early April 2013 again. If the tour has been going well and they think it all fitted, I see no big chances for us that there will be BIG set list changes. Longer shows of course, but the basic set list will be the MK/BD one, I am sure...

If you expect surprises every night and changing set lists every second evening, MK is not just right for you! And in fact he would answer that he HAS changed the set lists of every tour!

I know some are in favor of dropping TR, which I would consider as a terrible move... this song, the most progressing that Mark has ever done, became such a part of a MK concert that I would be really sad if it was dropped. I hope it won't follow the path of WOL - played slower and slower until it was dropped... (not that I miss WOL, though - the worse song than Mark ever wrote !). I really hope that 1) TR will be played and 2) that 2013 will go back to the 1996/2001/2005 roots, given the faster pace noticed in 2011 for songs like WII...

The only thing that could make forgive TR being dropped is.... if Mark decides to replace it with TOL :)) That would be something. The sax/piano/guitar intro could be dropped, as well as the break in the middle, to save energy (I know this song is quite demanding, even more than TOL). Even played just like on the wonderful MM album would make me happy (let alone the crazy extensions done in 83/85).
