I like "Corned Beef City" as an opener..perfect to get the place rockin'. I also think that "Setting me up" would be a perfect fit for this tour..it has some similarities to "Got to have something", "I used to could" and "Gator Blood"..especially the later. Not sure if we would see that many new songs though..Mark has a habit of 'recycling' songs from a couple albums back..like "Cannibals" in 2008 ; "Coyote" and "Prairie Wedding" in 2010. Maybe this time out..we will hear some different tunes from Shrangri-La..or KTGC..personally I would love to hear a live cover of "Punish the Monkey" or "Madame Geneva's"..although the later may be a bit to dark to play live. If Nigel Hitchcock is on board for the tour..maybe we will hear "In the Sky".    :)

Hi Hop,

I was saying something similar somewhere else today (on another thread or another MK forum). The core of the setlist since the Shangri La tour has been more or less the same so maybe they could "rest" Why Aye Man, What it is, STP, Done with Bonaparte, Speedway, Marbletown & even HFB & replace them with other solo material.  The problem is that MK plays what HE wants and that probably means what HE thinks his best songs are.
When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

I don't think "Corned Beef City" would be a great opener, neither was Cannibals in 2008 (and was way inferior to the '96 version), was just too happy that WOL was dropped although Cannibals 2008 had much of the WOL style.

I agree about Border Reiver beeing the best solo opener ever as was DTW in the Straits days.
WYM could have competed if only it had featured the 2002 band instead that ugly bouzouki sound on it - ruined from day first of 2005.

Bouzoui is an essential part, from the recording on the album it was there from take one!! You can hate it of course nevertheless...  :lol

What about Darling Pretty? I agree that Border Reiver was one of the best openers in the last years, but it should compete closely with Darling Pretty, very powerful and full of energy... not sure if MK would or could deliver something like that in 2013...

Darling pretty is nice at first, but I was bored with after sometime.

I first ever heard WAM in 2002, live at the Shepehrd Bush. Sounded fantastic. Then the album came out, listened it once and ever since then when I put TRD in my stereo I jump directly to track n

Going back to the new album, I think a possible opener also could be "Don't forget your Hat". Cool first opening bars, and a good oportunity for every band member to play a little first "intro" part... the harmonica could be replaced by another plinky-planky by Jim... or a drum solo by Ian...  ;)... I would imagine some kind of opening style as in 2001 with Calling Elvis. That does not automatically mean that Don't Forget Your Hat is one of my favourites of the album, but stil...

Still, a fantastic song, I do not understand why you skip it on the album !

Because when I want to listen to WAM I put the bonus single with the Shepherd Bush live version on it.
