Absolute wonderful time GennT at the concert. When it comes to slide guitar Knopfler ain't a match. My three favorite slide guitar players are Derek Trucks, Chris Rea and Sonny Landreth.

Here is Derek Trucks at the age of 13 playing Eric Clapton's Layla (insane):

And here with his band 17 years later:

Derek Trucks has such a beautiful guitar sound!

And how aboout Duane Allman ?

The haters are those who write shit

Listening for the first time in detail now. After listening to the short clips I had the feeling that I would love this album more than MK's most recent albums (like KTGC or GL).  And with listening to the full album my opinion remains the same. Good album, esspecially some of the blues-based stuff.  But there are also some weak songs on it. And with some tunes I think 'where did I hear this one before?'.  Bluebird remains me thinking of Rope Stretching from the NHB-gigs.
But when I compare this album with STP, then it's just a collection of nice songs. Nothing more or less. It lacks the energy and diversity of STP. STP will remain my favourite, followed by GH. Privateering comes 3rd.

Regards,
Lars B.

Pottel I noticed the following quote underneath your messages
Quote
any Knopfler, Floyd and Dylan will do

But how about Chris Rea?
In my opinion it's almost impossible to be a Knopfler fan and not a Chris Rea fan. Do you for example have the albums "The Road To Hell" and "Auberge" from Rea? Or his wonderful 11CD Box Blue Guitars.

Chris Rea - The King Who Sold His Own

I went to this Chris Rea concert earlier this year :-)

got the 11cd box yes ;)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

The 11 CD set is a pretty amazing undertaking considering the scope of it, but it ends up sounding like 150 versions of Road To Hell. I'm kidding of course, but even though Chris Rea is covering all kinds of blues styles, he doesn't have a broad enough musical palette to make it varied or interesting enough to last 11 CDs.

Hhhmmm this is a test. I just wrote a message, but it isn't here! Let's see what is happening now! LOL

I can read now! Perhaps I was too excited about the news, that I forgot to push the right button!

Well here I go again! It is wonderful to hear that some people already are able to listen to the new album. I didn't have time today and just logged in at 9.50 pm and when I read about the news I know I have to wait till tomorrow, because the shops are closed.

I hope the owner of the music shop will call me tomorrow (as he always does when I order) and if he doesn't, then I sure will take my bicycle and ride to the shop to buy the album! I need to listen now and don't want to wait any longer!

Duane is great too! Surely in my top 10! One of my favourite live albums is Allman Brothers At Fillmore East.
