and here a fine example of jazz snobs proven wrong, at the montreux jazz festival in 82, when they were not used to non-jazz players performing there, listening to those shouts!

A big fan of SRV here as well...

A truly legend, one of my favourites together with wonderful, wonderful Rory Gallagher...

Both two of the best ever.

i just wonder if Rory and Mark ever met or played together. Mark spent much of his time during the 80ies and 90ies, helping-contributing his heroes, I guess if Rory was one of them, they would eventually  met. But the same stands for so many artists that it would be really impossible. How about a little Verlaine.

I was thinking while listening to their albums, that what links both bands (DS-Television) is how the backing band works to support the main licks and the voice. And of course the fact that they both are great guitarists, with debuts at the same time, DS american sounding while Television had the spirit usually found in Brit bands. And that is why the bands found success first on the opposite sides of Atlantic.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

I think that Dire Straits and Rory Gallagher shared one show in 1981 or something like that... I remember and old poster with three names, and DS and Rory were two of them...

This is not the one I mentioned, but its the first time I see it:

Man, you bring back so many memories. Fantastic film, saw it in a summer cinema when first released, and looked for the soundtrack right away! Found it a couple years after. I haven't seen the movie again, afraid to lose the good memory I created back then. But the music still plays. Wilco were very much influenced by these dynamics (clear acoustic-heavily  distorted electric) in fact they remind me very much of Neil :

and for good measure:

jbaent, great poster! Kevin Coyne another long lost friend, there! But without Andy Summers on Guitar. By then he was with the Police.
Any recordings from this show available, (eventhough I don't think hey actually played together, you would have known it   ;D  )
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

effing masterpiece. been on replay the whole night. just ordered the soundtrack.
by the VG, another good NY cd is the mirror ball cd, with PearlJam, same kinda vibe.
oh and that 80ies thingy, This Note's for you.
and yet another replay of this awesome movie theme....volume on 12 now....

Maybe it is in the archives thing. The released one, or the one to be released.  ;) I haven't bought it, too expensive for me, and I also lost his two last LPs. I have Mirrorball, a bit tiring, though. And all his 80ies releases can only give a CD of good songs. I have all his releases and the 80ies are the ones with much less spins than any other.

I believe that 12 is very low for me, but it is headphones, since it is past midnight and kids are asleep.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

The first archives run up to 1973, so don't bother. Next Archives might take some time to be released.  :)  Hold on it is just a passion, it will eventually go away.  ;)
