Interesting what you say Pasta Strainer about the 2CD thing being a bad idea and it would have been better being a 1CD of KILLER songs.  Perhaps if they had decided to put all the left-overs onto another disc and included it in the super deluxe box set then it would have made it a bit more attractive...
It would have been a 1CD of a killer songs if you were entitled to select the songs.   ;)
Don't forget the people in question have considered that Gravy Train, Camerado and Kingdom Come were not good enough.  ::)

Not to mention Early Bird...

Good points.  Some of our (the fans) favourite songs have been left off albums with some dreadful ones put onto the albums.  There is one exception: yes I'm looking at you Long Highway! ::)

And Pulling Down The Ride is highly underrated  :)

Honestly I don't understand the 'bad songs discussion'. If you think the song sequence and location on either disc 1 or 2 is wrong, simply burn your own 2CD version! Problem solved. Anyway, I'm glad there is a two CD, there's no chance we miss too many songs. Everyone will have his/her favorites and skippers. Now we're all happy aren't we? ;D

As far as i'm concerned the more songs the better, ;D I'm certain there will be more good songs than bad and having 20 songs to choose from sounds much better than 10 or 12 to me :)

I am so very curious about the bonus track song "Follow The Ribbon" (8:07). I have a feeling it must be a good one. Mark will always try to keep a song interesting. Hope there will be some interesting chord progressions in this one.  8) There are only 3 MK studio songs longer then this one. TR, MFN and TOL.

For those who have already listened to the album, is there a guitar solo on Dream of the...?

One big happy clappy family indeed.

You're right, the bad song discussion is completely pointless. Particularly in view of the fact that we could potentially have been born in North Korea. Or been forced to go on a Farm Foods diet.

Couldn't help burning a cd and running to my car to have a quick listen - with some skips.

Go, Love is a genuine gem and Dream of the Drowned Submariner, as I expected, is just one of the most beautiful songs ever written. My ride home after work takes an hour or so and it's gonna be the best one ever!

My impressions after first listens:

GH: Liked it very much and fell in love gradually.
STP: Love at first listen.
TRD: Apart from Why Aye Man and Hill Farmer's Blues a huge disappointment.
SL: Liked and enjoyed it very much but never really loved it.
KTGC: I tried really really hard to like it but never came close.
GL: Same as GH.
Privateering: Likely to replace STP as my favourite.
