Thanks. Nice. I immediately listened to "Tunnel Of Love" again, which I haven't heard for ages...

Very good article. It's obvious that this writer knows a lot about music. I've never been able to so clearly articulate exactly what it is I like about Mark's guitar playing, but I agreed with everything in the article, about his "distinctly organic vibrato" and all that stuff. And I hadn't realized how much Sailing to Philadelphia has to do with America, but I see it now.
*Sniffles* I actually cried a little when I read the part about BIA and clicked "play" on the video of that old Montserrat recording...

Glad you liked the article. When I read it, I cried a little too! Can't help wishing Mark could read this one. I think he would like it, nod his head and say "Well, someone got it!"

I hope no one minds, but I posted the link on Guy Fletcher's site on behalf of AMIT for Guy to read & to maybe pass onto Mark.
Certainly a great piece.

Many thanks, RKD, for sharing this wonderful article!    :)

Just one bit of nit-picking.   I know MK's lyrics can be interpreted many ways, but, wasn't Silvertown Blues about the O2 Arena, not "a busted silvermining town"?    :-\

Very good article. It's obvious that this writer knows a lot about music.

Yes and no : "He has never used a pick. He uses only his fingers, in a form of clawhammer that is totally unique to him."

Although his vast majority is finger picking style Mark also use picks sometimes.

Yes, well, we are the experts on Mark after all! (JK) I thought the same thing when I read that sentence though. (Kill to get Crimson.)
On a side note, I hope to hear more finger picking and less pick/tremolo on the new album.

Pretty good writing for a 25 yr old. He has a great artistic future.

Really enjoyed reading it, apart from the one glaring error "never uses pick..."

Thanks for the link!

Even I enjoyed reading that.

THE OXFORD AMERICAN, as I recall, is finaced by a well-known American novelist whpse name I can't recall.  Every year, they have a Southern Music issue that usually comes with a CD. They have a very eclectic selection of music.  I have a couple of such issues from past years and I would recommend your kkeping an eye for any that you see on offer.
