Which exceptions?

Almost for certain, a man called David, whom with he played on early days of his now defunct band. Other guy I think its not exactly in good mood with MK is Ed Bicknell.

I also wonder - this is a personal thinking, not based on any piece of objective information - if Alan Clark and Hal Lindes would have good memories about the way they were put aside by the man.

Yeah, I think they are, after having an unpleasant disagreement. I recall discussions on TR-list about the meaning of "Let's see you", which was said by many to be aimed to Ed.

Regarding to Alan and Hal, as I wrote, it is just a personnal feeling. As far as I know, Hal suddenly left, when the band was warming up to record Brothers in Arms. Same for Alan, who never workd with MK again since ancient times. This always sounded odd to me, that's all.

Alan came back for the Swan Hunter thing in '93 and again worked with Mark in the masterclass thing in '99 so relations appear somewhat mixed there in my opinion although maybe a little strained post-Straits!

My first post!
I think things were fine with Alan until he joined "the straits". Mark lost all respect for Alan after that, along with Chris White and Phil Palmer. I believe Mark will never work again with these guys because of this.

Actually Alan Clark wasnt invited at all for the MK and Friends, when all ex Dire Straits available (John, Guy, Chris, Danny) played at that gigs with the adition of Robbie McIntosh on guitar (the rythmic guitar in DS was always a changing one...) and Geraint Watkins instead Alan on keyboards...

I never knew why Alan wasnt there, and instead was that funny keyboard player.

Alan was the missing link at these gigs.  With him it would arguably have been DS but without it was almost DS.

Geriant was such an amusing character on stage with his rolling movements and perma-smile.  He looked like a weebl man when playing his accordion. :lol

Hal Lindes did not "leave the band" on his own; MK fired him.

I would rather say that Hal was a bit upset that Mark didn't "allow" him to play what he wanted, as he did with almost all musicians in the band at the time.
So Hal decided to leave, but you're right, it was a decision influenced by Mark's attitude (as it was for David), so in a way you can say that Mark "fired" him

Those Sacramento tickets still for sale for any last minute planners.
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along
