Mike Henderson would be a perfect man for these tracks live on stage.

LE

Mike Henderson is a good alternative as he can play guitar and harmonica, but I didn't like a lot his guitar playing during the STP tour...
I think harmonica will be replaced by Jim's piano or organ, John McC's fiddle  ???

Poor Jim.  I very much disliked his plinky plonk on Sultans in '96, but there can be no doubt he is a very talented musician and is far more capable than the likes of Matt in terms of improvisation.  Matt was simply a robot and played exactly the same every night;  not a proper musician in my book.  You could train a monkey to do that.

I think MK may use Jim quite a bit on the next tour now he is able to travel again and I look forward to hearing him.  We may even get the long version of Sultans again...who knows?

Mike Henderson completely ruined the STP show at the RAH - he was just far too loud and drowned MK's guitar!

I much prefer the 4-piece version of Sultans!

A faster, more energetic one would be nice!  I never listen to any from the last tour now.  On reflection I think they sounded terrible. :disbelief

Thanks to all who have replied to my slide guitar question!  ;)

Have you all heard this spectacular litte piece (I would call it Elmore James style?) in the snippet of "Gator Blood" from 1:03 min. on? I can't help but have to laugh out loud every single time I hear it - out of joy, it is soo great! And this last long bending note - funny little break - I love it! His voice on Gator Blood is so deep and dirty and hot that I don't give a damn about any dialect!  8) Drooling comments are to be exptected in the near future! (I bet)
