the YON TWO CROWS guitar sound is the thing I liked most :)

It has very much a Dire Straits feeling to it, don't you think? It could build up to a real nice solo. So many great songs, wow. His voice is really fantastic, I  repeat myself...

Much, MUCH different than what he has done until now, from the DS days till Get Lucky.

Probably a good and - as always - well-produced album but blues is not my cup of tea.

I'll definitely pass on this one. For the very first time for a DS / MK album.

Hope you all will like the album. Only positive reviews so far

Firstly, thanks to JVG, very kind!

I'm amazed... I'd never expected a blues record!

The Botti contribution is great, and Wilson and O'Brien are everywhere...

Also Moody sings a lot.

Far better than I expected, a totally different record from the previous ones.

BRAVO!
So Long

I'm on an Android phone, so no iTunes store app here, just web browser

You'll have to wait till you're on your computer... hope for you it will be soon !

Can you play m4a files on your mobile? I managed to download the files from iTunes.

Try this! http://www.filefactory.com/file/gaaf1jip9kn/n/02_-_Haul_Away.m4a

JeroenvG: How did you manage to download the files?

Funny how different we are receiving these snippets... I have hardly heard Moodys voice, and the Botti song is also one of the ones I have listened to the fewest - together with After the Beanstalk by the way. What we have in common: Loving it already! He surprised me, too:  It's fresh, uptempo and classic!

When you take the preview of Privateering only, it just sounds like another acoustic song, (f.e. Marbletown, just Mark and guitar). The snippet doesn't prepare you for what is coming after the chorus  ;). So maybe we really should see these previews as some appetizers, but some very good ones! There are songs that have potential for some real classic tracks. (Yon Two Crows, Go, Love)

I've listened to Redbud tree, and of course the 3 songs from the MK/BD tour, but I'm saving the rest for Sept.
Always a very hard desision, but always worth the wait.
I'm loving reading everyone's views about the snippets.

Cheers. BBB

Go to the very bottom of the iTunes page. One of the option is Change Country. Just click on it and pick UK.  When it loads, just put in Privateering and up it pops!
Wow, that's easy! Thanks much. I'll check them out now.
And after reading these (pre)reviews, I'm pretty excited. MK's guitar has always had a bluesy sound, with those string bends and emotional notes, so it's not that big a surprise to me that he chose to make a predominantly blues album. It also makes sense that, as someone already mentioned, Bob's blues setlist last fall probably did help inspire this.
Heheh. There's no way I can resist, so I'm gonna listen to all of the previews!

BEST MK SOLO EVER!!!

edit: finally, finally oh thank god finally there's uptempo, there's plenty of blues, there's folk

It's got everything that defines my taste in music!

I think I died and went to the South  ;D

edit II: Gator Blood reminds me of R.L. Burnside's music, check it out

This album might as well become a favourite album for me, maybe just second to STP.

Yon Two Crows sound like something from the late DS era, just less 'produced'.

Kim Wilson and Tim O'Brien are such sublime additions to this album! They are out of this world.

And this is my face when listening to Corned Beef City, Got To Have Something, I Used To Could and Gator Blood --->  ;D
