Listening right now to those iTunes preview snippets, about 1:15 from every song!
SPOILER ALERT!!!! !!!! !!!! !!!!! SPOILER ALERT !!!!!!!
Don't forget your hat _ FAT Blues, bottleneck guitar, Elmore James style
Miss You Blues so nice... Bottle neck like Ry Cooder... in fact the whole song could be from Bob Till You Drop
Corned Beef City: Loud guitar(s),
Go, Love: Solo! Could be from Metroland soundtrack...
Hot Or What - really like Can't beat the house, really very similar, but with harmonica...
Yon Two Crows - seems to have a nice build up in it.
Seattle has that whammy bar again - his voice is soooo great on all tracks I listened so far...
Gotta have something - EXACTLY that kind of blues everybody is waiting for, Muddy Waters style, GREAT!
I Used To Could - Blues - MK playing so much blues nearly starts to get boring...
Gator Blood - mid tempo blues... nice... really loud howling bottle neck, spectacular little guitar part!
Bluebird: The harmonica sounds very ... unusual (to me)
Dream of the Drowned Submariner - melancholic, nice! National
Today is Okay: Guess: Blues! El Macho is right, boogie woogie, Jim is doing plinky planky, another son of Can't beat the house, yaaaaawwnnn
All very promising. One skipper is already clear for me...
But a lot of pure MK rhythm guitar playing, lots of bottleneck. Couldn't make the Les Paul -
No rocker, apart from Corned Beef City. Haul Away was not available for some strange reason. The five bonus tracks are also there.
This is definitely a blues record. He has never made an album with such a concrete profile. It is not the usual mixture I was expecting but some "real" and original blues playing. And some really good songs seem to be on it, too! If you don't like the blues you could have problems with this album.
Just imagine:
Go, Love, I am already caught... nice melody! Same guitar (solo) sound as on "Behind With The Rent"... Really nice song!
