As it was discussed above Universal Music Japan will release the local version of Privateering on SHM-CD (cat. nbr. UICR-1098) on 5th September. It looks like strange because since 1996 UM never released MK albums specially for the Japan market. Generally, the local Japan releases have bonus tracks. It's done in order to stimulate the buyers in Japan to prefer the local releases instead of a cheaper import from US and Europe.

What I dont understand is why local releases are expensive in Japan... Nosense

Same sense that level/cost of life differs from one country to another. Japan is(were) strong to export their products (using dumping methods) but their local goods market is very high priced compared to other regions of the world. You have also to take in account the currency factor, you are not paid in Yen.

The reason for the extra UK tracks on STP was to try to stop people buying from cheap online Hong Kong based retailers like CD Wow. Now that nobody buys Cds it doesn't matter. :)

And what does that mean?
"Daily cleaning of maximum 3 hours."

--> Do the guests have to work in the kitchen, washing dishes?

Joking aside, Italy is one of the most beautiful countries with the very best food [Jeremy Clarkson voice] ...in the world!

For me RT does not reach the high level MK set with many many compositions. Positive thing ist the nice clear sounding lead guitar. Otherwise RT ist a bit lame, the chorus very weak and too repetitive. Maybe the album this time starts with low tempo, then becomes mid and high before at the end of cd 1 we have again lame tracks.

Mark currently on holiday in Italy

http://www.ansa.it/web/notizie/regioni/toscana/2012/07/19/vacanza-Montalcino-Mark-Knopfler_7209203.html

Google Translation:
Holidays in Montalcino for Mark Knopfler after the land of Brunello were chosen as a goal by Paul McCartney in June on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. The founder and guitarist of Dire Straits, according to reports from Montalcinonews, chose the countryside of Montalcino for a little 'relaxation, guests of the resort Castiglione Del Bosco, where he also stayed the former Beatles.

Cool. Nice choice Mark.

Does anyone know where he was before?
Someone told me: Greece, South Africa, Barbados have been on his list. Also very beautiful.

Jepp. Think so too. It is a nice but weak opener.
The rest must be stronger.
After 5 times of listening I got enough.
I like the acoustic guitar. The clean strat sound is also O.K. but not mind-blowing.
Anyway. We got weaker openers with TLWNF. That was nothing

This time MK News published all the lyrics for Privateering.......

the strangest thing ever...

I mean, we still dont know about all the formats and their contents in an official way, but we have the official lyrics even before to have the record.

Its quite curious to read the lyrics like poems... Most of the songs have a "kind-of-donegans-gone" style :-D

I would say most of the lyrics reminded me immediately of the Shangri-La ones. A lot of stuff sounds like drinking songs like Stand Up Guy, some have a Back To Tupelo Style. A lot of them sound very interesting. Many new vocabulary to learn in front of me!

A surprising move indeed. I have no interest in reading them before I hear the songs.

The more Guy denies to tell us the track lengths (as once more today), the more I am sure that there will be a lot of very short songs on the album. Also two vinyl albums don't offer too much space for some long songs... I would bet on a lot of 3 minute tracks...

Right, if CDs were full or at least long enough it would have turned to a 3 LPs edition.
But they may also lower the recording level on the LPs to make them longer capacity.
