Mark toured in the US solo in 2005 and as a double bill in 2006.

I'm hoping he does the full tour in the US in 2013.  I hate the thought of only seeing him for half the time if he shares the bill with Dylan.   :disbelief

Like Superval I dont understand the negativity surrounding Privateering. As a massive Knopfler fan the thought of a double album is like winning the lottery.

A few thoughts on recent posts here:

1) I am thrilled about the double CD. TWENTY new songs!!
2) Re: album cover- the sun is setting, leaves are falling off trees, autumn turning into winter...
3) I hope MK does NOT tour with BD. I want THREE HOUR CONCERTS OF 100% MK!! (He could sit on that red stool/chair)
4) MK wants to play smaller venues. If he wanted to play big arenas, he'd reunite with DS, which he's not doing.

LOL Superval!  ;D......No lucky there won't be 2 the same CD's ......uuuhhhh I hope!  ;D

I expect there will be different styles of music as always, which still makes that the music of Mark never is boring!

Often music of other artists (especial Dutch ones) have the same sound and lyrics like "How do you do, I love you!" After listening once you know the chorus because of its rhymes so it gets boring after listening a few times. .........BUT by listening to Mark's lyrics he is telling a story or about a person and even after listening many times I still don't know what exactly Mark is meaning with that song.

Do you all remember our interesting discussion about the meaning of Hill Farmer

You are right Feinekie, MK always says that different people take different meanings from his songs and that they are all right.

It's true that for years double albums have been discouraged because they mean lower sales.  But I read yesterday that,  in Britain,  downloads have overtaken CDs for the first time.  So maybe it doesn't matter so much now.

Still a bold statement of intent by MK.  "Dire Straits? Fuck you.  I've got so much new music I have to put out a double album."

It is his seventh "solo" album, and he is "solo" for 16 years now - so both is more and longer than Dire Straits ever lasted... So he has really made it a solid and substantial career being without Dire Straits. He probably thinks of Dire Straits only as "the early days" or the "beginning" of his career...
